Boomerang 6.0 Winter Group
#51
Here's what I will be sending out.
Some will get the stars fabric (I used it in Boomerang 5.0East and got back some terrific looking blocks) Our son is currently deployed to Iraq and I would like to make a couple quilts for our Family Readiness Group's December get together. Patriotic is the theme for that fabric.
Others will get the green floral. I will ask for no wild/clashing prints be used but rather to just use the colors within the fabric. I'm going for a subdued look this time.
I'll have a note inside the F8 also explaining the plans for the blocks and color requests.
I do have cats at home so you might see some stray hairs where they insist they know how to pack better than I do. No smokers here or allergies so feel free to starch away while making your blocks for me.

Alikat -- make sure you put that in a note when you mail out the F8 - hard to remember when all that fabric comes rolling in if there aren't suggestions included with the fabric. Last boom one of the groups I sent out a solid brown Kona cotton -- asked for blue, blue green and turquoise. Quilt turned out fabulous - they are posted in boom 5. The brown pulled all those colors together, and I loved the effect. Also last time, someone sent out about 8 different brightly colored and patterned fabrics for a really eclectic look to her quilt.
But it is certainly your choice. Take a look back at the end of boom 5 and look at some of the collections.
i have a bunch of 30s/feedsack fabrics that i've been collecting and haven't decided what to do with them so this is the perfect situation to put them to use.
i'm sending out a different print to everyone so its going to be a true scrappy quilt and i'd like a true white fabric to be used as the background so the white will be the fabric to tie it all together.

I typically don't buy collections of fabric I just go with what I like.

I was able to con ... er ... convince DH to go to the post office this morning instead of tomorrow morning, so all my F8's have been mailed.
I already had some $.64 stamps onhand so I used them for most of the envelopes, until I ran out. The post office said $.44 would have been enough (figures! LOL!) so that's what they put on the remaining envelopes. The F8's were in business-sized envelopes and were squooshed down flat using Glad Press-n-Seal. The receipt says they were .90 ounces. Canada was $.80, and Australia was $.98. :)
