I have a question for anyone that machine quilts or has it done. I have several different panels like the one Im posting and its on white cotton but its like a t-shirt iron on. Can you put these in a quilt and then have them machine quilted or does it make the "iron on" maybe tear and come off easier? I have about 20 of them and am trying to decide what to do with them quilt wise. Thanks!! Joan

okay Ladies sorry I have been MIA lately but I have been sewing my bottom off. I should have them all out in the mail to you all within the next week or two. Thanks for being so patient. I am still trying to decide what to do for the next boomerang swap. Any ideas?

I have done Tshirt quilts. Besure to use inter facing an not touch the pcitures with the hot iron. I quilt around the figures to outline them but I do so very lightly. I use Warm and Natural which makes it even heavier but you can quilt up to 11 in. apart.

Anna, you put interfacing on the back of the panel? These are on 100% cotton, already printed, not on tshirt material. Each panel is approx 18" x 16". I am afraid if I were to have them machine quilted it might make them "peel" off because the stitching would be so tight and cover the entire panel. On the other hand if I dont quilt them on the panel it wouldnt hold up as well. Im really confused on how to make them into a quilt. Thanks for your help!! As you can see they are Civil War scenes! The Union panels are at the quilters now..cant wait to get it back!

Sorry I miss understood. I thought it was T-shirt material. I would not quilt them but quilt around the panel. That is why I would use Warm and Natural as that can b quilted up to 11 in. apart. If you feel it would need some quilting I would only outline the main figures. No definitely do not over quilt by stipling or anything. I have done iron ons as pictures and did not quilt over the pictures. I love the panels. Very nice but then you know I am a sucker for Civil War.

ME too Anna...thats why I ended up with about 20 different pictures! LOL Now Im not sure what to do with them! Tying might be an option on the panel itself and quilt the sashing inbetween? I wouldnt want too many of the panels in one quilt though...might make it too "busy"...ugh...Id rather be sewing on more Union General/Confederate General Panels! Thanks for the suggestions!

The yellow is from from MIssgigglewings. I love the yellow in it.

I can't seem to get my other ones to upload. Back to the drawing board to make them smaller.
