I agree with you. I guess if we put in written correspondence, that counts as just correspondence? I took a chance okdarla, please let me know when it gets there and if it cost you anything...ok? Joan

when i mailed my blocks back out, the one that went to NY State cost 10 cents more than the one to the UK and Australia. I thought that was wild. they all should have weighed the same.
ps i mailed out my last block on Monday.

cthmjenn Thanks for letting me know the block is on its way. I will watch for it. Postage is becoming expensive all over these days. It costs around $2.35 to airmail from Australia to the USA/Canada an A5 size envelope with a F8 or block in it. $6.55 is really expensive when you multiply that out. For me it cost $2.35 for everyone in the group. I look at it that I am getting an original quilt meeting lovely quilters and its a win win. My circumstances are I can afford to do these swaps I am very fortunate. I love to do these swaps but I do understand not everyone can.

I guess it is the US Postal system only, that is in dire straights. I guess I was just plain shocked from the last swap, a lot less. I will appreciate a note of cost if there is more. It does get more interesting swapping with quilters from all over the world, but even here, I consider this very special too. Joan

Hi All, Just wanted to check in.
I've now received 10 grown up blocks back, from Buddy'smom, calquilter, frenchfryqueen, urgodschild2, tam...moo, quiltaddiction, quiltingcraftylady, Jaba, paperpieceme and Nelco. They are all gorgeous blocks! I'll have to try to get a photo of them together to upload for you all.
As for the postage on the ones I've received it ranges from $1.10 (x 2), $2.05, $2.25, $2.90 (x2), and then the one from Urgodschild2 (not including the ones with stamps which I don't know the value of). I don't understand the postal system in the States. How come its not just flat rate? It does see to be a pretty big difference between them!
I was trying to figure out options for any future swaps, and wondered if a possible alternative would be if someone would volunteer as a collecting point in the US, and then get all the grown up blocks sent back together - would that work at making it cheaper, or would sending all the blocks to that one person first actually make it more expensive still? I don't know how much internal postal rates are...

Below are all the blocks I have received so far. I am trying to decide on whether to do sashing, on point, etc. Looking forward to receiving the rest of my blocks this coming month!

Has there ever been a swap on here where swappers got to request the specific block they wanted, and everyone just used their own fabric to make it? I think that would be fun.
