You are NOT "in over your head"! Blocks are NEAT! I really like it! I've done the same thing with Izzy's block and another(can't remember who). I cut, sew, rip, sew, threw piece in scrap bin, re-cut, sew. *sigh*
SO when you feel frustrated, eat CHOCOLATES! :)

BTW, We are all going to LOVE whatever you create! :)

    Mistiliz..
Thanks for the encouraging words....I haven't received any mail in the past few days and thought everyone gave up on me.

Maybe my creative juices will start flowing again....

    Hugs, Lori

Nice to know I'm not alone! I cut a few more out today without problems. Some days I have the attention span of a flea and I should know better than to try to sew.
I figure we are all friends here and we could exchange horror stories all night about mishaps so I will carry on and so should you!
    Chocolate really does help!

gigix12, No worries with my block. I love to see what others put together and we can all challenge ourselves a little and then step back if need to. It was great timing to read your post as I had just finished a block and wrote a note to the recipient that It was a challenging block for me to make as well. I am grateful to whomever invented the seam ripper. It is my pal as well. Thanks goodness we can rip things out and resew them. I would be in great trouble and create some really horrific blocks if not. I love your block so no worries. I am thinking I need to get some chocolate in my sewing room. Maybe that will help. I just take a break get a cup of coffee and see what my fellow quilters are up to an go back and tackle the project again. Happy Quilting, remember this is a fun swap, no stress.

LOL......no worries Susie....it was never my intention to create the "Perfect" quilt from this swap.....it was for fun and enjoyment and the learning opportunity it has provided for all of us!!! I have also had the days when I knew I should be reading a book and NOT sewing!! Relax and enjoy.

I cut my first block yesterday after many hours of deciding pattern and fabric.
I, of course, cut it wrong!
No problem I find another block to make with compatible block sizes. Get it almost cut out and see an armadillo running around out in the rain in the yard. I grab my camera and chase after it trying to get pictures. My new camera keeps turning off after I turn it off! I turn it on, it turns itself off! Gave up as I was in my slippers and getting kind of wet.
Came in and cut the last block WRONG.
At that point I grabbed a brownie and my book and went to bed.
There are days I shouldn't try to sew.
This morning I looked the situation over and decided that I could make a block with hardly any of her fabric in it but that wasn't the point of this swap so I put my problem solving hat on.
The block which I wanted to make, who's name escapes me and I can't find anymore but do remember how to put together, is doable if I add an extra little seam to one part so that's what I did. I got it all put together and after it is put in a quilt it will only have a 1/4 inch seam that can't readily be seen. The recipient might not even notice unless I confess my sin here.
So forgive me BarbS. I will gladly pay you for more fabric and shipping. The block will be in the mail on Tuesday so let me know if you want me to try again. If nothing else it should give you a laugh.

Now on to the next Canadian's block! Aren't you both glad I decided you both should go first?

Fun, fun, fun, they tell me this is FUN!
I used to be a registered nurse and help save lives and stamp out disease but i have lost it now.
Luckily even though I have lost most of my intelligence I haven't lost my sense of humor!

    Here's to better days!

Thank you so much, Barb! I was going to pm you if you hadn't seen my post today. I really like the block and hope you do to.
I have a 3 foot rule which is : don't look at my blocks closer than 3 feet away!

i am so happy i spent the $5.99 for it, i've found it very user friendly and a great variety of blocks.
Wow I was able to find ONE on the shelf! I had to move quick-thank you Borders for coming through for me and for letting me get into more trouble after visiting their quilting section. Although I've learned that Amazon.com is alot cheaper for books. Specially if you don't have to have it now!

Thank you for letting me know about the magazine-I'm enjoying it very much!
