Bee-- do you have some fun French recipes? My daughters been learning French. I'm looking forward to my personal tour of Paris! Fun fabric.
Moonwork42029 that's very interesting trivia about the Dick Van Dyke show that I never knew.

Good morning my little chickadees! So we have had some requests for French recipes....eh? Wonderful! The first topic we will pursue on our journey is the French Baguette! So to start things rouling, we will first try making Baguettes at home. We will need these to take with us every where we go.....so....please make them large enough to carry when walking or store under your seat or neatly within the seat back pocket. See photo. Here is your recipe...so we would like to see them coming out of the oven......

INGREDIENTS
SERVINGS 4-6 YIELD - 2 Baguettes
1(1/4 ounce) packet active dry yeast
1tablespoon organic honey
1 1 ⁄2cups warm water
2teaspoons natural sea salt
4 -4 1 ⁄2cups unbleached all-purpose flour
DIRECTIONS
1. Place the yeast, honey and warm water in a large bowl and let stand
until foamy, about 5 minutes.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the salt and the flour. Use a
wooden spoon to stir 2 cups of the flour mixture into the yeast
mixture; stir in the remaining flour mixture (dough will be stiff).
3. Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface. Knead with floured
hands until dough is smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes. Add a
little flour, 1 tablespoon at a time as necessary, to prevent dough
from sticking.
4. Place in an oiled bowl, turning once to coat. Cover with plastic wrap
(or a clean kitchen towel) and leave to rise until doubled in bulk,
about 1 1/2 hours.
5. Preheat oven to 400F degrees.
6. Gently punch dough down to deflate it and shape into two oblong
baguettes. Dust tops lightly with flour and place on a lightly greased
baking sheet; let rise uncovered for 30 minutes.
7. Use a serrated knife to cut 3-5 small diagonal slits across the tops of
the baguettes, and lightly sprinkle with cool water.
8. Bake in the middle of oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden. Transfer
to a rack to cool.
Tomorrow discover a little history on the subject!

This is going to be a fun Swap for sure! Flower girl..love your block! I can see fussy-cut pieces from my fabric made into this block....no rules though...create what you like.....
TG a wine glass would be perfect......even a little red Cabernet spill or two would be OK....![Smile](https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png)
Billi.....you hit the nail on the head when you say "crack-up"......if I didn't have a sense of humor, the crack would be huge...
.
Muse...thanks for the recipe idea.....I hope we will give it a go......nothing like fresh baguette!

Flowergurl love your block, very fun
baguette sounds yummy but I'm not very good with yeast recipies
mom has a new doctor who changed her med's around and she is so much better and "with it". Makes my heart sing. Will be here 3 or 4 more days longer. She still has trouble with incontinence and today I will take her shopping to find something she will feel comfortable with for the wedding. My sister has already gone down this road numerous times but maybe with a differnt set of eyes we will find the perfect ones today.
went to the town quilt shop and bought some juvenile prints to make more NICU quilts.

Janice, Ive decide on 2 different fabrics. One is the green I posted for he 3 month group and the other is light blue
flowers on a dark blue background but I don't have a picture of it. I put each "group" in a separate baggie marked 2 month or 3 month...hope this is ok but I have a question...do YOU prefer a pre paid stamped envelope or just an envelope for return with the cash? I want to make it as easy as possible for you!! Im ready to start sewing....been in a slump where I don't feel like doing any lately..nothing started, all but Boom 14 blocks finished!

Tomorrow i am going to an auction. There is a singer treadle machine in the sale.
I will see what kind of condition it's in.
Sometimes i get lucky and score lots of material at auctions too.

Bee you are amazing. Thanks so much for the recipe! I might have to give it a try. Just wondering how that girl cooked her French Baguette? It's as long as she is. My oven is pretty small.
