From what Terri said - and from what you just said, it sounds like you don't smoke around your fabrics, so it probably isn't a problem. A 'sniff test' - that's cute

There, I admit it! I'm a fabric snorter!
I have had MANY, MANY people send to me and haven't smelled smoke on any of it and some were smokers.
K, you sent me stuff and there was no smell on that. Just the loverly fabric smell...yes, I SNORTED IT!!!

i think if you have a no smoking rule in the house the smell never gets in anything.

if you smoke in the house everything smells.

my parents smoked and i couldn't even be in their house for an hour without having a violent headache.

Good show, Butterflywing <g> ... marked it in my favorites.
Hope no one minds if I just sit here and watch ... for awhile, anyway.
<racking my brain to try to remember where I put my Dear Jane book AND the templates, that I bought BEFORE I bought the book, and am just now finding out what I actually purchased!>

we're trying to stay away from true bright white.

you should double check the white in your fabric i'm thinking its actually 1 shade above bright white like an eggshell.

i thought the fabric i purchased for the Jan Jane was red & white and when i got it home and compared it to my kona white fabric i discovered its just 1 small shade darker than bright white.
Since the fabric is going to be pre-washed, anyway, couldn't STAR just tea dye her stark white fabric?

How much is this a problem for everyone? I smoke too but not in my sewing room? And everything will be washed right?
We do not smoke in our house, nor in the car that I pack my fabric into on trips.
My kids, thanks to school, came home and started lecturing on quitting. Hubby said: When you are as old as I am and have never smoked, then I will believe you have something to teach me.
End of lectures ... three out of four have never smoked. And, I am so proud of them for that.
But, the one that really got me was the day they came home saying that I had cost them intelligence/brain damage because I smoked while I was pregnant with them!
My mouth hit the floor, and I finally said: You straight A, barely have to look at a book children are just as intelligent as you will ever NEED to be!
If you were any more intelligent, the world would be a truly dangerous place to live! LOL
One of them read Gone with the Wind in THREE DAYS ... in the second grade ... I was suspicious, but she had even done an analysis of each of the characters and explained why Scarlett was wrong for blaming Rhett over Bonnie's death ... how much more intelligent would anyone want a kid to be???? <g>
sorry - - didn't mean to add to the distraction or to hijack the thread.
Now, everyone <g> back to your Dear Jane blocks!

Just an idea, can we also make a note of which block we made on the slip of paper?

What is the Dear Jane Sew Along in Jan. of 2010? A friend and I are doing the DJ quilt and have 33 triangle blocks left and 3 inner blocks left. I am curious about the sew along.

I think that's an excellent idea - but this isn't my project - so -
