Dear Jane Christmas Block Swap - Closed

Thank you all but they are far from perfect. I just wish I had the rest of the second set done. I am getting there tho.
I guess I chose these two because they are things I do all the time in my work. I just get anxious to have things done before I get to the end!! LOL

I just posted my directions for making the Drunkard's Path block on my website. Bearisgray asked me for it so I sent her the lesson but decided I would put it on my site for anyone else who might like it. I use yoyos and I don't do curves so this is my way of doing these. It is my version of the one Eleanor Burns does in her Egg Money Quilts book.

Thanks Rhonda - couldn't open it in my e-mail, but I read over the tutorial. Very nicely done.
It would be fairly easy to do with stitching the yoyo/circle on the right side of the fabric.
By the way, the way you prepare your circles is a good way to prepare any circles for applique. That method would work very well to prepare the circles for the B-1 block, for example.

Someone told me not long ago that those are not yoyos. I don't remember the conversation real well but as far as I'm concerned they are yoyos. I learned this method years and years ago when someone had a lesson out for making grapes to be appliqued. She used a penny for the size. But I find metal is hard to use. It gets too hot and it is too thick. I prefer to use thin cardboard. It does tend to buckle a little when ironed but it doesn't affect the yoyo any. I tried metal washers but didn't like using them. Too thick and too hot when ironed.

I've always thought of yo-yos as those circles where the pulled up edges touched in the center - and then were sewn down/up/together - and the little things could be sewn together - or made into flowers - or something
