i wouldn't say its your crappy sewing but its very easy to be off the slightest bit when doing these blocks.

they are so tiny and that makes it very easy to be off by a little bit.

when a block is 12.5 inches its easy to hide and 0.125 difference but when a block is 5.0 inches that 0.125 isn't so easy to hide any longer.

Klue, I agree, these blocks are alot tuffer than the bigger ones, I try & paper piece what ever blocks I can, as many pieces I cut, I add the 1/4" seam around the piece and go from there. Since they have the paper on them it's a breeze to add the seam allowence.

I have now made 4 and they are all measuring to 4.5. Would it be too much trouble to look at the pattern they gave for B3 and see if it's off? I think it's set to sew to 4.5, not 5. I was very careful cutting and using the freezer paper...

i'm sorry to report but the pattern for B3 comes out at exactly 5 inches.

i printed 4 templates onto regular paper. then i cut off the seam allowances and taped the parts together.

when i measured the unfinished paper block it was 5 inches.

    here's a pic

i think you might have better results if you applique a circle onto a 5 inch square.

make 9 of them with the red circle and then make 9 of them with the red background.

then cut the blocks into 4 and alter the sections to form the pattern.

its very difficult to sew curves let alone on this size scale. when i was during the 4 inch NY Beauties for my IRR center i wanted to shoot myself.

I repeated it and you're right. I don't know what I've done wrong. Guess I'm going to make some new templates and see where that goes.

Oh Esq..I'm sorry you are having trouble. That would be a hard one for me with the curve. Have you tried holding your mouth "just" right when you are cutting and sewing?? I know you'll get the next one to turn out better.

Thanks cher. I actually can do curves as I took a class recently and learned a lot. It appears my cutting is the problem, so I like her method for that. I'm going to try it!
