Also, different printers, operating systems, and graphics programs print differently, so if you're printing off patterns, make sure to measure them with your rular before you start to sew. You might find the printed pattern is a little off and you have to print at 98% or 101% (for instance) to get it to print exactly the right size.

So how would I check this if using the templates? do I have to make enough copies to piece the square together with the paper?

Once the pdf is open and I hit print I have scaling options, Make sure it's on none (some computers give percentage amounts or scale to fit).

Yes, the safest bet would be to print a copy, tape it altogether and make sure it measures 5" (with outer seam allowances) before you start to sew.

Okie, thats a great block! Your fabrics are just great too!

Tuesy...I'm a slow piecer/quilter also. I fiddle with them waayy too much, but thats just me.

I think that I will wait for my software to come and work with those templates instead of what Klue sent to me..that should insure that they come out the correct size.. HA!!! I just wish!

Something with thread that melts (I bought some, just unsure how to use it...).
Are you talking about radius or diameter? The circle in the book finished to a four inch diameter (2 inch radius)

radius...I'm taking my little ruler and measuring every circle's radius. Do you think I should go for 2 1/4 so I have something to turn under, since I'm attempting to do it applique??

use water soluble thread in both the bobbin and the needle.

trace the shape onto light weight interfacing & onto the fabric

cut both pieces out and sew them right sides together

then snip the center of the interfacing and turn the piece out

press the piece into the desired shape and when you're done give the piece a good shot of steam from the iron.

this dissolves the thread and you're able to remove the interfacing and have a turned under 1/4 seam.

then position it the background fabric and stitch it in place.

i typically use the blind stitch or the zig zag.

i'm going to try a another method for my jane applique blocks for the swap.

its basically the same idea but using fusible interfacing and regular thread.

so after you turn the piece out and into its shape, you fuse it in place and stitch down.

Okay, that makes sense. I think I saw Eleanor Burns do that on TV recently. I'll try that - seems to be simple enough...(famous last words!)

    Thanks KLue!!

Thank you Blue... that makes sense..I was adding for some reason

So here I did yet another one (ya'll are going to get bored with seeing my practices) I just want to get this right.. and yes, I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Although when I used my DJ rulers I noticed on the package it said "Finished is better than perfect"

This block at least comes out to a hair off 5", so I know I'm going to have to FPP these. No matter how much I pin, something still moves..
