December Pincushion & Needlecase Swap - Sign-ups close on December 1st.

... A pincushion shaped like a present, a triple fold needlecase and a mini wall hanging that is hand embroidered. The needle case was so heavy, I couldn't figure out why she would have weighted it. Well... the weights were two chocolate bars hidden in the pockets. Wonderful. Thank you so very much.

I received my pincushion and needle case from ctyankee today. Pam, I LOVE cardinals and your little pincushion is adorable! I cannot bring myself to stick pins in him, though! The tin, tissue holder, needle case and pins, along with the little birdie made my day. Thank you so much!

Ladybug your blocks are very nice, the quilt under the four blocks looks beautiful. Your cat is cute, looking out the window and talking. Our pets live such a tough life! Yeah right! I guess they are all pretty spoiled. Right now there are 2standard poodles sacked out in the big recliner. My favorite cats are black tuxedo. The quilt is a bargello I'll post a picture later. Nhnative what great items you sent. I just love it all.

That's a great package, nhnative! Your triangle Santa reminds me of the very first handmade Santa ornament I ever received. It was around 1990 & I went to a Christmas party given by the owner of a quilt shop quite a distance from my house where we did a cookie exchange & also exchanged handmade gifts. We picked numbers first & when my turn came, I picked a very small package & inside was a very tiny triangle Santa in a tiny black calico print. I loved him instantly. We were doing that Yankee swap game (sometimes called Chinese -- don't know why) where if any person who opens their gift after you wants what you received, they give you their gift & take yours (never liked that game). Anyway, I loved him so much, I just left him on my lap & pretended he wasn't there! I'm sure no one really saw him so I got away with it! (Although being dressed in black, maybe they didn't like him? All that mattered was that he was mine!) Being a cat lover, I made a stuffed cat that hung over a door knob by his tail. I never found out who made the Santa though; it was a large group of ladies & I really didn't know them well. And that little tiny Santa was the beginning of my life-long love affair with Santas! You should see my collection now!

I posted this picture on the ornament swap thread and thought I would post it here also. This is a picture of one of several of the pinecone wreaths that my mom made back in the 60's. She spent hours wiring each pinecone onto a wire wreath frame. I added the little lights to it. Can you believe that it is 50 years old and still looks beautiful? It is hanging above a small portion of my Santa collection.
