so robyn i need some clarification please. there is a list that q-louise has started where we send our names and/or mailing addresses to her, then this list gets circulated to other swappers. from this list, the swappers choose a name to send a surprise to of the sender's choice. is this correct? this is in addition to this swap? how often is "rak" to take place? is it sender's choice as to the frequency? is there an order to which names get chosen and how often or is that the sender's choice also?

another ?: the people who have signed up for this list are just sending to each other correct?

Ha-ha, when my son was about 5 or 6 we were out and he wanted to stop for a hamburger meal and I said we couldn't as I didn't have any money (long time ago & they didn't take credit cards then, and I don't think we had atm either) and he said just go to the bank and write a check-they'll give you some money. I tried to explain you had to have the money in the bank before you could get it out. teachable moment...

For those who missed the post in the Nov. SP swap
I am posting the info again.

I am building (so far 33 names/addresses with 19
confirmed agreeing to "share" their address with.

Here is the info:


Basically only thing being swapped would be mailing addresses to be
"saved" (sentvia pm's ONLY).

I will explain what it is that I DO on my own. When I am in a swap
(and for those who wish to be put on my "list" outside of swaps), I
"save" the addresses and put them on my list.

Than at random times I will select one, two or even more "names"
and just perform a R.A.K. (random act of kindness) by sending the
person(s) a little note that says "thinking of you" or I have been
known to send a little box of "goodies" or even just a fat quarter.

But the thing is it is all random I may not send anything for a month
or so, but than again I may send 1-20 (depending on what the budget
is like) more in a month.

I know it probably sounds confusing, but for me I have a "system" worked
out that I have been using for over 3 years from another quilting group
(cafemom).

I LOVE reading the comments from those who receive something me
because they are surprised by the randomness of it.

But since that swap was shot down, I will continue to collect the addresses
from the swaps I join and slowly build my list that way.

One thing I do NOT do is SHARE anyones information unless I specifically
have thats persons permission to share their address. In fact I have all
that kind of information password protected on my computer even my family
(mainly hubs) can not access the info.

I take my friends person information such as their addresses seriously. So
just be "warned" that if you have done ANY kind of swap with me it is HIGHLY
likely that someday you might just receive a little something outside of any swaps

It is totally up to you what you send, when you send and to who on the list that you send to. It can be anything from a card, a FQ, pincushion, or whatever you want. It is totally up to you. You do what you can when you can.
