Sounds interesting. Could I paper piece a donkey?
Also an end of Jan deadline would work better for me too, just because of the logistics of having to post early from England.
Can we embellish the blocks before we send them - give animals eyes and things. I think my donkey design has the tail and mane put on in floss... or are we keeping there flat with no embellishments (so stitch the mane and tail) so they would be suitable for children?

Leota- The blocks should be same-ish. (lol, I made up a word.) Please make 12 blocks with the same concept/idea, as close to alike as possible. Of course, you may play with fabric choices, etc.
sew cornie- Just worry about using earth tone colors, and use cream versus white.

I am learning how to do turn needle applique, which means lots of practice. Since this swap has been on my mind, I practiced making a sheep last night while watching tv. While I like how it turned out (it is intended to be the center of a pieced quilt block) I think I may try to make something more playful. This is pretty primitive. I want to stitch "Baa Baa Black Sheep" in an arch above the sheep. (REALLY blurry picture....)
