I finally figured out a "plan" for my farm quilt. My husband's grandparents pretty much raised him. They had a farm their whole married life, and still live on the family farm although now retired. I think I would like to make them a quilt. They're so nice to everyone else that they deserve a treat to show our appreciation. Now, hopefully this will motivate me to get my 24 sheep done, and hopefully another set of something. (24 won't make too big of quilt.. Unless I get pretty creative with sashing. Lol) Goooo Andee!!

For some reason, the sheep have been kicking my butt. Nag me, will you?

I like the lighter background for the jars...
The sunflower is wonderful, the pig is the cutest thing, the chickens are adorable, the egg jar is a great idea....wow..I probably missed one, didn't mean to...they are all just sooo cute! I am getting excited about getting my blocks now!!

Ok, here is the Farmers wife block. What do you think. I think it is sort of blah. Any suggestions would be helpful. This is my first attempt on blanket stitch with my new machine. Do you think I should use black thread for the blanket stitch? HELP!!

I think she is really cute, but perhaps a basket with eggs or flowers, a patch pocket or apron might help. Or you can leave her the way she is and each person can add novelty buttons or a bit of applique according to the needs of the individual quilt.

    Great stitching! Gwyn

Oh, I just noticed, perhaps some wooden shoes (klopens).

I agree with Gwyn...she is really cute...maybe some grass to walk on to break up the background?

Keeping her mostly plain does allow us to help her 'match' the Farmer.

She is a very cute farm wife. I agree with the previous posts- an apron, or basket would be too cute!
