Lauren is the owner, and she has some really wonderful women working there. No matter what you ask, someone has the answer, if not the employees, the customers are very knowledgable and willing to help. It is really a wonderful experience each time I visit there. It is only about a mile from my house so I visit often. She provides sit and sew opportunities, fridays she does "soup and sew". . . she (her wonderful husband Tom) offers soup each friday and the afternoon to sit and sew with others. She has a large classroom downstairs with 6 to 8 tables that are 8' long. It makes it so much easier to lay out and sandwich your quilt that way and usually there is someone there to help if you want it. It really is a wonderful community shop. She draws quilters form DE, MD, NJ, PA. She is putting her fabrics online also.

I love what the teacup and teapot quilt is looking like. I can't wait to see it when you have it all together. How nice that you are able to get some help with your choices at the quilt shop.

I was just looking at your wonderful quilt again and it occurs to me that we both took the rows apart and added sashing between them. That shows me how smart Dayle was to send the sashing with hers. I'm glad we aren't sewing the rows together on the next one.

patti, i am sew jealous of you having such a fantastic sewing shop right on your doorstep!!! it sounds wonderful, and i think i would be there every day!!!! (if i could afford it!!!!!!)
all our little sewing shops are folding over here :(
i think these 'on site' sewing facilities are what they are needing now to keep going. our LQS didn't have that, and every time i went down there to buy something i needed for a workshop, they didn't have it!! i ended up using ebay all the time. the annoying thing is the owner who worked in the shop day in, day out, was on our quilt club committee! wouldn't you have thought she would have got the bits in that were required for the up and coming workshops! i would turn up at the shop with my list and there would be other ladies there who were on the same workshop, looking for the same things! and we all walked away empty handed!!!
crazy!!
talk about missed opportunities huh!!??!!

Lauren has workshops and classes all the time. I would say at least 4 a week. She has a wide range of types of classes and for all levels from beginner to expert. She is vry good about having what her customers like, want and need. And that in itself will keep her in business.
Funny, she asked me if I would put together a row robin for the shop. She thought we could meet monthly and swap the rows at the meetings and just sit and sew together. I told her I dont know if I could finish my row and then wait 2 or 3 weeks to pass it on. She just laughed and agreed. I told her if she could find 4 others in the area that like to work like we do I would consider it. But I really think we are the exception to the rule, not the ruld. lol

Jacquie, I was getting ready to ask you if you wanted me to attach the row. Great minds, ect. Life has gotten in the way, again. Not doing as much sewing as I would like. This weekend we are having a 3 day guild retreat.I am hoping to get both row robins finished and get a start on my view.

wow, betty, sounds like you'll have a lovely time!! it's nice to do something special like that! have fun!
patti, i know what you mean about enjoying working quickly. i have loved this RR esp' as we haven't tied ourselves with dates! even when we had dates to work by, we still worked unconsciously ahead of them! lol
i love to hear about you local quilt shop, and your planned workshops! i hope you do start up a RR with them, you could even do a 'fast lane' & a 'slow lane' for those who are suited to either speed lol...
it's worth thinking about!! some people need to be 'pushed' just slightly out of their comfort zone in order to grow :)
i look forward to hearing more about it!

Just slipping a note in here, to let you "Early Bird Threads" know I'm still alive and kicking. Been busy making Posey Pincushions for our booth at our Quilt Show here in April. When Jacquie's row get here, will interrupt the Pincushions, work on her row and get it sent off to her. Meanwhile thought you might like to see what I've done so far. Got a "whole lot" more to do yet.

The dining room table is a "mess" these days!
