Smile "A Fall Fantasy" Funky Swap...

"A FALL FANTASY" funky swap... sign up closes september 15th

This is a swap Fall inspired!! That means everything we love about fall! There are leaves, trees, birds, bittersweet, sunflowers, pumpkins and gourds, scarecrows, turkeys, pilgrims, apple carts, baskets of mums, school houses, thanksgiving or even halloween images, words, sayings, whatever reminds you fo fall!!

The sign-up will be for sets of 6 alike blocks. The limit will be 4 sets per swapper. The swap is now open to sign up for all levels of quilters.

PLEASE use ...100 percent good quality cotton fabrics... that are prewashed. No muslin or blends please. (I will retun those to the sender unswapped!) Many of us buy from quilt stores and pay good money for great fabric for these swaps. I understand that if you are using pre-cuts (jellyrolls, charm packs) may be impossible. Just write a small note and clip to each block to advise the reciever (s). Many fabrics shrink or dyes run... so please do this first step to make our projects something nice after washing and that we can be proud of.

Make your blocks before you sign up for this swap. This makes it easier on you to have them to me on time and takes the pressure off the deadline, so you can have fun making them. I am happy to have them come early to me. I have plastic bins for storaging them in my utility room.

The signups will close on september 15th and the blocks should be to me by the deadline October 1st, or unfortunantly they will have to be returned to you unswapped. Many swappers all make a point of getting thier blocks here on time or even early, so I can't hold them up. Please understand!!

I am happy for you to send them as early as you want. I have a nice big bin to store them until the swap date.

Please send me a pm to sign up for your block sets. I can miss any members trying to let me know they want to sign up on the board swap thread pretty easily.

The finished block size can be any size block divisible by threes. Don't forget the seam allowances!!

Please Note*** the smallest is a 6 inch finished block so the smallest will a 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 Unfinished and so on. (The size of a send- in block will have the half inch seam allowances included ) There hasn't been an interest to do the 3 1/2 inch squares, so we are eliminating them for this reason.

    The sent in unfinished sizes can be , 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 , 6 1/2 x 9 1/2, 6 1/2 x 12 1/2 or 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 or 9 1/2 x 12 1/2, the same with the twelve inch sized blocks. The max sized block is 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" .

Please do not send just a cut piece of fabric as a block. It won't count towards your block sets and would have to be returned to you. Remember make something you would like to recieve! There are darling images out there with
fun fall images for our blocks!

    * If you wish your blocks to have eyes (or whatever) that are not embroidered on while making the block, please put the beads or whatever the is the embellishment into a small envelope or baggie pinned onto the block. This is a request from past swappers because of the long-arm or machine quilting and breaking needles.

Attach your board name with a small slip of paper to each block with a pin or even staple it to the very edge within the seam allowance. Place the block sets of 6 into large plastic baggie marked with your board name. Some people have used the small sticky address return labels and it works great to stick them on the back side to identify each block. Just add your board name to it.

We will be using beige and light fall colored colored backgrounds that would show off your blocks. Like pale yellow, light coral, pale blue or green.

There are many images and blocks available on the web and magazines, or make something up on your own. Embroidery works too! Lets have some fun with this! Just remember, if you are doing applique, you must sew it to the blocks in such a way that it is washable later. You can't just iron it on. We want nice finished quilts... LOL!

*Mail your block sets to me in a priority flat rate envelope addressed to me using only a postage stamp (stamps) on both the return envelope addressed to you. There has been a problem with the post office accepting the pre-metered envelopes, and I would hate to have your envelope held up because of expired postage. So please use a stamp!

Place a self addressed flat rate priority return envelope with the postage stamp (s) attached addressed to yourself inside along with your bagged block sets.

    * I will mail the swapped blocks back out to you by October 30th . Or before if all of the blocks come early! You know me girls, once they are here they are swapped and gone... LOL!

Should you have any questions or problems please contact me by pm. Any swapper can opt out if there is a problem with getting the blocks here on time. Life sometimes gets busy and I understand that. Please do not send them to me late. All of the blocks will be gone with nothing left but to send them back to you unswapped. That would be so sad for me and you!

Please read all the general swap rules of the board, these also apply to this swap. They are located on the top of the swap board written by the administration. Or, here is the link ...

    :~)

This swap will end just in time to make a cute quilt or hanging for the season.

Also, It will be my last hosted swap here on the board for now. I love doing this for everyone and it is so very fun to see all of them first hand. But, it is time to get to some of my UFO's. LOL...

Great wanda lou! I am thinking it might be a good companion swap to go with the halloween swap blocks many of you are making too.
Last year some of my swappers asked for this swap specificly, so here it is!

So far I am going to make a pieced turkey and a pilgrim's hat. Have you thought of anything to make yet?

This sounds like so much fun! For personal reasons would it be possible if I participate to request that I don't receive any of the halloween specific-themed blocks...anything like witch stuff, jack-o lanterns...basically would it be possible for me to request only harvest/fall/thanksgiving-ish blocks?

Oh you so want to Ms. Grace. If you do so will I, it will be down the road enough I can get my other swaps finished up and my UFOs widdled down some more.

Here ya on the UFOs Red. When doing the swaps, we get so enteretained in the swaps, but need to make the quilts. I still have three swaps sets from swaps you have hosted. They are my WIP when I get tired of the UFOs. I

I bet I could come up with some things for this swap, but will have to wait a little bit I will watch this thread and when able, make them up.

I can try my hardest not to have any of those go to you. I am not so sure that there will be any. But, that is all I can promise. OK? There just has to be enough swappers in the swap that I have a good choice while swapping them out, you see? So invite all your board buddies to join in the fun.

Like I said the subject was a requested swap by a few of the board members, so I hope everyone will go crazy and we have tons of great blocks!

Oh! Mrs Grace and quiltermomma, I would love to have you two in the swap! Please join the fun.

I have my turkeys cut out and will make them today. I LOVE working with these colors. It makes me smile alot.

I think my last blocks may be a squirrel and bittersweet branch? We will see what I can come up with. Maybe the word FALL like the love block.
