Mary, she's adorable. any new one at your farm yet, or is it still early in the year.
you usually get one in march right? How many new ones are expected this year.

Stupid question, do cows give milk even if they haven't had a calf yet?

No calfs yet. 2 months to go. We sold most of our stock last summer. Got really good prices and we are getting old to do the work for so many. Expecting 2 calfs. No, just like humans no milk until birth.Anyone get their swap yet??

Mary, another stupid question about the cows, how long do they give milk for.
I mean the baby has to have some right, then do they keep giving, or what.
I lived in Farmingville for about 35 yrs. but they had no farms, so I don't know this stuff.
You're my go to person regarding farm stuff. Hope the baby is cute again.
My partner will get hers on Friday.

Thanks for the positive feedback Karen. Those are quilting bees. Sis (Ladybug on here) gave me the cute blue quilting bee fabric. Very nice, clear picture too. Lynnie they give milk along time and finally slow down. Usually calfs are weaned about 6 months old. Then the cow dries up. Milking cattle have their calves taken away so the milk can be collected and sold.

wow, those coasters are awesome. Mary, I love the fabric you used.
Mine are plain Jane compared to what you did. I need to step it up next month.
Mine are a pretty batik with flowers appliqued to the top.

I can't wait to see what next months theme is. any clues yet?

Mary, so after they give milk, do they go to slaughter?
what does the baby cow eat if it's mom is taken away and doesn't get mom's milk?
Thanks for bing my authority n these matters.
