I made one of my sisters a coaster with one big hexagon of a pretty print, and one made of a flower with tiny hexagons. I will be making my other sisters hers, but have until the end of the month for hers. They were my try outs for this swap, but last night I came across another pattern I am trying out tonight. IF they turn out nice, then I will make a bunch for this coming Christmas for family.

Looks like everyone has the same idea with the Hexie coasters. I thought I'd be unique and had found a pattern using a hexie, etc. May have to look some more....for anther idea, I really like those.

Not to hurt anyones feelings but I think a coaster and mug rug are about the same.Tracey, I think once you make something that shape it kinda sticks with ya awhile. I made a couple table mats that were hexagon lately.

We had a calico once. We got her when we were married for one month. I know calicoes are usually girls, & I did hear that orange kitties are usually males, but I only heard that lately, from someone at work. I never had an orange cat, but they are pretty.
Mary -- that depends on the size of your mug rugs. The Mug Rug Swap requires the mug rugs to be at least 9"x8", which would make a very large coaster! Prior to joining the mug rug swap, I made my mug rugs 6"x8", but that's still very big for a coaster. Or are you referring to the way they're made? If that's the case, then forget what I just said. And, in that case, I would agree with you.

Cat lovers: There is a wonderful fabric of kittens in a garden on equilter.com. My friend is adopting 2 blind kitties.
Yes, she is a truly wonderful person. I could not resist getting her a piece of this darling print.
