Daffy...lol! Your avatar is really cute!

I'm sure we'll do another cat block swap, but it may be in the spring. We are finishing up the dawg swap now..(its still open if you'd like to play!), then the holiday block swaps are starting to go strong...so I'm thinking that it will be next year.

Vry cute, momma! I can't wait for the dog swap so that I can see if I can make my idea work! This will be a challenge for me, as it will only be the 2nd quilt I've done with varying sized blocks. Fun! :)

i think I am going to reorganize a bit. My personality does not like the "collage" idea. I may match up the 6.5 blocks and make into 12" blocks, then frame the 9" blocks into 12" blocks and then set them in rows like that so they all line up easier to make sewing them together a bit more simple instead of all those h seams and y seam that may appear. I know I am just going to have to make one more 9" or 12" cat block to mix it up just one more step. I like my block, but two in one quilt is overkill. Maybe after I shuffle them around again, it will be ok. I feel sorry for the poor mouse each time I look at it. Maybe a "cat house" would be in order.

Momma...I won't do any "y" or "h" seams on my quilt. Section your blocks so that you can build them to be the size you need. Sew the sections together 1st...then you will end up with more workable units to sew together. You might need to add some plain fabric as little strips or small blocks to make it work out easier.

That is what I was thinking I should do once I really looked at it. It will be so much work the other way. I will probably have to dig in stash for some workable pieces of fabric, or "go shopping for fabric". I was going to match up to the 12" block and then work from there. I will work on it this weekend and see what I come up with. Will hopefully get it done and post a photo. Thanks for the help. You must have done a few of these already?

yes, keep playing with it and adding little pieces until you have the sections figured out where you do NOT do Y seams or anything else hard. You might even just take some scraps and make some little blocks to add in there just for interest...they have so much character when you put them together like a puzzle....its fun!

Ok, got it done. I did add a border after I took my photo. What do ya all think? I like it. I worked all the blocks into 12" and 9" blocks and they came out even. Now to get it on the longarm so I can finish it. That is the challenge now. Have couple customer quilts to get done and get on those competition entries. Better get busy again.
