    Wow! That's ALOT of chickens!
How long does it take for you to gather all those eggs?
We have 8. I'm hoping to get 3 or 4 more this spring.
    I love them! :D

I'm currently looking for a pre-built chicken house/coop. We had a large metal building that we used when we had them before and then we had dog kennel panels that we used for the chicken run part. We have to have a way to put them up at night due to all the coyotes/possums, etc. around here. I have a big barn...but I don't want to use that. Any of you with chickens have a good source for chicken stuff? (meaning cheap!!)

Hey Sandpat I'm going to have a 400 ft long building available soon that will be empty. May have to use it for a go cart track wanna come over? Does everyone wash their fabrics first for their chickens? NOTE we gather as many as 3 times a day 7 days a week, 365 straight in a row. It is similar to I Love LUcy, eggs come in on a belt

Ms Grace, yes a single stitch line close to the edge of the fabric is just fine! :) Got more creations for us to peek at-??

Mariposa, how many are in this Funky Swap, so far?

    I have a Brother SE-400.
I've had lots of fun with it since I got it a few months ago.

I love the bucket of chicken & funky chicken. Very cute! :D
I'm glad you all like Dotty, I've been working on the rest of the set with her. I'll post pictures when I'm done with all 6 of them.

    Applique question???

"If I use a fusible web to applique my pieces to the back ground fabric, can I just use a single straight stitch along the edges to finish it? :?:
thanks for the machine info. my sewing machines are Brother and Im quite fond of the brand.

I have used all sorts of applique techniques and really like the look of the raw edge. several of my chicken blocks have raw edges. I figure if its is not someone elses style then they can satin stitch or button hole stitch or whatever they want to it! by then it is theirs to modify as they wish.

Did you use a metallic needle? What bobbin thread? Oops...more than 1 question....

PatP...my DH just loves the fresh eggs, with that many, you probably wouldn't miss a few...can you toss some this way???:D: Thats a LOTTA eggs!!

Ms Grace...yes, you can use just a singel SS to sew it down.
I didn't change my tension, bobbin thread, needle anything. This is the first time I have used that thread. It is a sulky brand. I just put it on the machine and started stitching. I have used other metallic thread and it didn't do as well as this one. This almost looks like a flat thin, thin piece of plastic. It says Sulky Holoshimmer on the spool. I got it at Hancocks. I have to say it stitched out great. I may have to try it on something bigger. It never broke. I basically just tried it figuring it was a test and had nothing to lose.

    Finished Funky Chicken block. 12.5 x 9.5
