yup, that's a hydrangea. I'm trying to grow one from a cutting of a friend's bush, so I'm quite familiar with them. I ought to be, as I've cut pieces off of it several times already, and still they die on me. Anyone out there have a green thumb?!?! j/k, think I need a different board for that question!

Have you tried rootone? Or, bury the stem, while still connected to the bush, and it should send out roots, works on rhodies, so it should work on them. Good luck.

I've grown one from sticking a cutting in a bucket and taking careful care of it until it developed roots. If the one you are cutting from was a "florist hybrid"..you will have trouble with it outside..thats just been my experience.

The thing still looks more like a Peony to me
