ok Ladies I was going into fabric withdrawl so I went to the store yesterday and got 2 of my fabrics I got

Rubber duckies- so cute!
and a smaller print with roodters and eggs

I do it with a clear template and just center the design in the middle of the block- in your case duck in the middle.

Star, just put your five inch ruler over the area you want to show ...if there's a duck you like, stick it in the center of the 5 inch square. Does that make sense?

Examples of fussy cutting

I cut a piece of template plastic into a 5-inch square and then used the 1/4 inch quilting/masking tape around the edges to block off what would go into the seams.

This bird fabric is an example of a fabric that I would probably fussy cut if I was going to use it.
