I don't want to ask the organizers to do extra work, because I know it's a big effort to run this in the first place, but would it be possible to organize the US/Canada groups geographically (eg. North-East, Mid-West) to keep the postage costs to a minimum?

ai731, just noticed you are in Canada, great, however perhaps you could ask at your local Post Office what the rates are to the USA, Can you let me know as it will help us too.

We don't have the great flat-rate envelopes that the USPS does, unfortunately, so for Canada Post you need to do everything by size & weight & destination.
If I'm reading the Canada Post website correctly, to send a (for instance) 8" x 10" x 1" "small packet" weiging under 1lb, to New England, surface mail, will cost me approximately $5.25 - so about the same as your flat rate envelopes :)
I guess this means you can sign me up! I'll PM you my details.
Cheers,
Jan

this is from the US postal site regarding flat rate priority shipping
domestic is $4.80, canada is 10.40 and all other countries are 12.30.
you can get about 6 yards of fabric into the envelope - so these rates should cover the bulk of the swap. the last round might have to go into the next size of flat rate priority shipping which is about $3 more.
