Sharon b, What a great Indiana quilt!! I like the race car on the map. That's neat. I think I need to look harder this year for some more Indiana materials in case Chele has us do another 'where we are from' next Jan. I want to be prepared. I still have some Colts fabric I used last year, and now some racing car fabric that sapdoggie was so kind to send to me.

Beckyw asked me to post a picture of the quilt I sent to her from the state of Georgia. The Cherokee Rose is our state flower and commemorates the Cherokee people, the original inhabitants of this area, who were forced to relocate to the west in 1838. According to legend a rose bloomed for every woman's tear that was shed along the "Trail of Tears" which extends from Georgia to Oklahoma. With apologies to "Mother Nature", I have taken a few liberties with color but I don't think anyone will mind :)

JoAnn--what a tribute to your adopted state. The Trail of Tears is certainly a dark chapter in our country's story.

It was very difficult to choose between New York (my native state) and Georgia (my adopted state where I live now). I love them both and greatly appreciate their similarities and differences. When I was researching facts about Georgia I found this legend about the Cherokee Rose and it inspired me because out of so much sadness something beautiful bloomed.
