JNCT, what don't you like about the quilt? I like it and think it has a a good mid eastern flair and the fabrics are bright and saturated. Yes I like it. Are the center mandalas done with fussy cutting or from a full fabric panel? I can't tell, either way they are perfect mandalas.

Oh, I like your tree, Skaduzy. I love PPing, there is so much you can do with it.

You are always so positive, Ube, but I still don't like paper piecing...makes me nervous.

Janice, love the colors in your quilt and like the quilt. I didn't know what mandalas were before I saw yours.
Also, nice buy on the table. My table is so low that my husband made wood blocks for each leg to stand in just so I could use it for cutting. Yours is perfect,

So Ube - I hate the quilt because I did a lousy job. I did not orient the blue borders correctly, and the kit did not have enough material so I had to piece it. I could not do the all over quilt pattern I wanted because NOTHING would mark on those colors. I had to echo quilt and just sew and guess at some of the smaller stuff. I couldn't get the corners right - the whole thing was just a friggin train wreck.

The center medallions were printed panels in the kit - I had to cut 4.

Skaduzy - you are right - a requirement I had for a table was that it needed to be high and this one is 35" on casters. Can your husband put casters on yours? You would gain another 3" in height. BTW - I LOVE that tree and I agree with you on PP. Never did like it although it does come out perfectly.

Still struggling with gown alterations - had to review garment construction to see what could be done. The dratted strapless bodice is gaping at the sides so I am trying to figure out how to pull the bodice in without taking in seams (its tight enough as is). Pulled a couple of pieces of boning out and I am going to put wide elastic in the inside top of the bodice with just a little pull to see if that works. I know that it can be done with braided horsehair but I need something more structural so the bodice stays up. UGH!

I am really hoping to get a wall hanging in. I want to do Rhonda's Dresden Kaleidoscope but realized that i need the clear plastic to make the template. So thats on hold.

Its not been a good month!

Finished my two blocks for September for the Stitcher's Garden BOM. Not pressed yet.
    Only one block for October!
After that I'll be half way there!

    Skaduzy, I like those!

So results from Durham Fair - Bookcase WH took a first (I knew that), the Mandala got a second (shame on those judges) and the Carpenter's Star got an honorable mention (and it was technically MUCH better than the Mandala!).

More good news - the formal gown for the wedding now fits properly so that can go away. Cheer bag zipper is replaced, one more dress to hem and a Game of Thrones costume to create and I can start my WH for the swap... thank goodness!!!!

Thank you Ube, Used couching foot (I screwed up on purple flower), candle wicking stitch (which my machine doesn't have so I used a machine in the store) and actually used the 'obsolete' foot to sew on buttons.

Janice, I knew that bookcase would get you a blue ribbon! Nice job on the others, too.

Thanks guys. Yes, that bookcase wallhanging was a first place. The Mandala did not deserve the second. Oh well, moving on.

I am excited about starting my wallhanging (FINALLY!!!!). I still have no ideas but I want to try the kaleidoscopes. Hopefully I do them right and I will play around with them.

Has anyone used a Sure Cut ruler?
