I really am questioning my outer border fabric choices. I agree that the larger design is not ideal. I won't know how the second choice will look until it arrives in the mail, but I'm not really sure about it either. I'm not going to begin making this project until i'm satisfied with my fabric. I may go out shopping again to see what else I can find.

Kassaundra, I agree with you and I have been thinking the same thing. One of the reasons the outer border fabric on the pattern works is because the print is small and doesn't compete with all the things that are going on inside the frame. I like the colors in the pattern border fabric as well. Wish I could get my hands on that fabric. I'll just have to continue searching until I get it right.

Watch what you wish for. I just bought tickets to see how quiltermomma did in the fair. Yes I will be visiting her. Both super excited and nervous.

I am doing the 365 challenge and they have 6" blocks with 112 pieces. Ridiculous, but challenging for me. Good for building quilting skill. Opted not to do the July mini because I do have some intense quilting to do on my own for the fairs and quilt show competition.
I will see what I get done for a wallhanging.

Sewingsew, the outside border on the quilt shows a polka dot style but it has a grid pattern to the dots so why not try a small plaid or checker to mimic the small dot texture pattern, like a homespun? Just another ingredient to stir into the pot of ideas.

ube, I actually have thought about that. (Great minds think alike.) I ordered some fabric yesterday that has possibilities. It is small burgundy berries. I think when it comes in I am going to compare it against a plaid and see which on I like the most. You'd think with all the fabrics in the world it would be easy to pick one, but that is not always the case. Part of the problem for me is that I have been concerned with mimicking the outer border in the pattern photo, when maybe I should just trust my own judgement and think outside the box.

BTW, your Bargello quilt is super nice. I love those fall colors.

The starting place is the pattern and now make it your own!

I just learned I will get my DHM back on Saturday coming. The backup Singer is working great for piecing but she sounds like she is in 1st gear, slow but steady. The Singer seams like its full throttle is as fast as the slowest speed of the Bernina.
Like a slow computer upload, By the time I get the antidote, it's to late. Life is good.

Hello Ube, Does your singer need to be oiled? Or maybe thoroughly cleaned, where parts of the machine are soaked in a solvent to remove older oxidized and gummed up oil? Congratulations on getting your machine back! You must be excited!

Since this is my first swap, I don't know what I should expect, but the activity on this thread seems to be at a snail's pace. Is that typical? Do people usually jump in when the deadline draws near?
