As a judge in many county fairs for the State of Wyoming, I can tell you that the recommended binding is sewn by hand. If you have a flange, it is permissible to machine sew it. The thing they look for is on the back. Sewn straight and even, so it is as if you were sewing in the ditch. That is some of the rules we have to follow. I most always hand sew my bindings on, but I like doing it. Just a thought if you are entering a quilt ....

I'm having trouble deciding. I purchased a new Triangle Frenzy pattern I'm dying to make with a gorgeous Jenny Beyer fabric, but also pulled some lovely fall batiks. Decisions, decisions.

Your runner is just perfect, Ube, and the stars just make it more so! I guess autumn colours have to be my favourites. I just bought a glue stick and I think I'll be using it a lot!
Belfrybat. Thanks for that URL . I watched it and saved it to try at a later date. Your triangle frenzie will look good in those fabrics, Cant wait to see it.
Jaba, Thanks for that advice..I will continue to hand sew....( Maybe I will try at least 1 machine done)

Oh belfrybat, both choices would be wonderful. I have a fabric very similar to the Jenny Beyer. It might be the same. I like that flange idea too. So many things to try, woohoo!
ekuw, I also like the baptist fan. It makes almost any quilt look good.
Jaba, how do you become a judge? curious

Hello, I have a question.
What is the average length of most of your table runners?

Linda, Mine have averaged around 40- 42" long and 12" or a bit wider depending on how wide a border I might add. I mostly make them long because I get such pleasure playing with the blocks. The rules state at least 30" long as the lower limit for length and I have received all different lengths and they are all wonderful.

Ladies, I love reading the advice here and seeing the beautiful table runners. I would like to join. I plan to make a table runner with fall foliage done with machine embroidery.
