happylab, I totally understand you! I like the Quilting Board for offing a forum where we can stay private. I understand that posting pictures with backgrounds showing (like a playground, or houses) and talking about your schedule (like when you will be at work, or going on vacation) is a way to give enough information for someone to kidnap your kids/grandkids, or break into your house to steal stuff. Criminals that put together what's on Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, and general search engine info can certainly wreak havoc.

A small 40" x 40" quilt using up some 9patches that were not for the swaps. I used curving lines for an all-over grid quilting pattern following every other seam. I didn't draw on the curves, just did them sort of random. My husband called it a 'DNA string' pattern. :-)

    Adorable Givio! Great FMQ.
    o
Well, swappers, all the packages went out yesterday! Most of you will get your package tomorrow, and a few will get theirs on Saturday.

I did not open bags this time. I just swapped bag for bag. So if you have any problems with any of the blocks, do let me know, but also take it up with the person who made the blocks and try to work things out between you. Of the ten swap packages I got, 8 were wonderful and the remaining 2 had some problems. One bag had 9 blocks too small. I was able to fix them by altering some seams, but really the sender should have done that. Everyone should be putting the 6.5" square ruler on top of their finished blocks to check size before they send them. Put the ruler in one corner to measure, not centered. Centering only splits the shortage and makes it look like less of a shortage than it really is. So start from a corner. Fix the blocks before you send them. 6 3/8" blocks, or even 6 7/16" are not cool! Full 6.5" blocks only, please.

Post #2 of this thread gives a tutorial on how to get the perfect 6.5" block.

Also, everyone should have sent blocks that were pressed and trimmed! Another of the bags I received was not. I don't relish having to "work" further on blocks when I traded good ones. Neither does anyone else. It makes them not want to swap anymore.

So let me know if you got problematic blocks this time... and also let the sender/maker know too. I will keep a list and if these people swap again their blocks will be individually checked and the bad ones sent back unswapped. It's only fair to the 95% of you who sent in good blocks that are ready to go into a quilt.

I'm also a believer in honest feedback.

Watch for those packages in the mail! The fabric choices were great this time and overall the blocks were fabulous!

Today's the day (for most of you)! Most will get their swap packages today, and some tomorrow. I hope you love them as I do... And remember that cute sloth fabric that MaudeFlannagan used? Everybody wanted a sloth block! She tells me she only had enough of it to make 3 blocks, so if you are a lucky sloth winner... post here! Let us know who lucked out and got the three very rare sloth blocks!

I posted feedback for everyone who swapped. I think I got everyone, but if I missed you, let me know.

givio, what a sweet piece you've created. You inspire me. I definitely overthink everything, therefore I don't accomplish near as much as I could, or should. I'm thinking I need to take a page from your book... :-)

sewbizgirl, I surely hope my blocks weren't ones that gave you fits. Personally, I can work with blocks that come up a tad short. What gets me-and the reason I went awol for so long on the board-is shoddy work. I easily use up the nicely constructed, too-short blocks in scrappy projects but the blocks or completed pieces that come through with seams all catawampus and not square, well... not so fun. On the flip side, I am the very lucky owner of many beautiful mug rugs, mini quilts, wall hangings and even one completed quilt from great members of this board.

Sloths! I recently made placemats for using sloth fabric as the backing. Everyone loves it-with it being a toss up between dh and our 4.5 yo gs.

Come on postman. Will noontime ever get here-my informed USPS told me I am expecting a package today. Woohoo! I imagine everyone is anticipating their squishees as much as myself. Let the fun begin.

I got my blocks! They are all so pretty. I received a bag with a real name/address only and I would like to leave feedback. Happylab, how do I determine if they are from you?

I'm trying to wait patiently for our mail lady to arrive, hoping my package will be delivered today. Hope I am one of the lucky one's that receive a sloth.

I do have the last 9 patches from the last swap sewed into a quilt, I just need to get the borders on then get it on the longarm. Hopefully that will be one of my projects this weekend. The temperatures are going to soar and reach the upper 90's, great time to spend in the sewing room.

If you haven't heard from me about it, they weren't yours!

Love your sloth fabric too, Whigrose.

Ladies, there is only one person who didn't use a board name... so if you have a real name only, it's happylab.
