No... we are still taking our summer break. I'll probably open sign ups for the next round in a few weeks, with the due date by the end of Sept. or so. Try subscribing to this thread, so you will be notified of posts. Hoping some more quilts get posted from blocks made in rounds 1 and 2.

I have been thinking about what I want to do with my swap blocks. I think I will make them into a quilt for a friend. He will be moving far away, so as a sending off gift, I think I will make a quilt. I have been looking at lots of images for some inspiration and I have seen some really nice quilts using 9-patches. I really like this one:

Unfortunately, I didn't swap enough blocks to make this one. I could make it smaller I suppose. Something to consider.

I also liked this hourglass/9-patch combination:

What I think I will settle on is this one:

The construction is very simple and the overall look is very nice. I think I even have enough 9 patches to pull it off.

Thanks, Maude, for the eye-candy! I love that first one.
Who would've ever thought a simple 9 Patch could be done so many different ways?

I love that first one... the double 9 patch using little 9 patches as cornerstones too. So pretty!

All of those options would look good.

Your pictures may be about to disappear... quiltNnan deletes all pictures with copyrights on them. If that happens, maybe you could post links instead?

If they disappear, I will get the links together. The last picture that is copyrighted has the link under it that goes directly to the source, so maybe it is safe?

maudeflanagan, The red 9patch in a 9patch with the blue sashing and 9patch cornerstones will take fewer blocks than your other two examples (if finished at the same size). If you like that one best, go for it! You could make it 2 x 3 big blocks (would use only 42 swap blocks), or 3 x 4 big blocks (don't want to do the math on that lol). You can always add a border or two to make it bigger. You might like to do the math on how many blocks you will need for the setting that you choose before you decide/or start cutting. :-) If you come close on swap blocks - to pattern - to finished size, you could always sew a few more 9patches if you haven't enough. Decisions are limitless! :-)

To me it looks like the first quilt uses smaller 9ps than ours... but you can still use that idea and make a bigger quilt.

Maude, I am like you. Less is more. I will be using my 9 patches in a simple quilt like the one you did. I
am going to a Quilt Retreat in a couple weeks and hoping to work on it there. My third child will be getting married on September 1st and I feel like I will get my quilting life back. This is the third child to get married within a year's time and the other two were married out of state so I have been a busy lady with family weddings this past year!
