Obrienwv great job, your quilt turned out beautiful! I love the design you chose for the nine patch blocks, so creative!

My nine patch quilt is finished, took it out of the wash yesterday and love how crinkly it turned out. Will post a picture if the sun ever comes out again.

Obrien, I love your completed top! Love the orange and the pretty layout.

Cheese, can't wait to see your finished (crinkly) quilt.

Thanks to both of you for your nice comments. No, it is not an original design. I found it in a book by Pam and Nicky Lintott titled "More Layer Cake, Jelly Roll and Charm Quilts." It was called Double Nine Patch. Theirs was a little scrappier than mine, but the design was the same. I used the swap nine patches and then a jelly roll to make the borders around each of them. Not sure how to post a larger pic - tried but it was always the same size.

obrienwv, I love the orange! It looks great! My blocks were exactly the same pieces as yours, just with the center pieced strip around the 9patch being turned the opposite direction, with the triangles going the other way (to form stars). What a difference it makes when they are turned! I liked working with the 8" blocks. I like it your way too!

Givio - did you post a picture of your quilt? I looked through all of the posts and didn’t see one - would like to see it.

obrienwv, I think I did post it-- but it's just the top, not finished. I did not use sashing and cornerstones like you did. Here are the pictures again. It's so surprising how different your top looks. I really like yours!

Givio - can’t believe how just changing the direction of a piece of fabric can completely change the look of the quilt - love the way yours looks and you got to use so many more of your nine patches than I did. Would like to see yours now that you’ve washed it. Anxious to see other quilts made from our swap too.

Here is a picture of the finished quilt from the first nine patch swap. Givio and Obrienwv, love how your quilts turned out, I may follow your lead and do this with the nine patches from the second swap.

I love it, Cheesehead- it’s just SO amazing how many different patterns can be made from the nine patches and they are all beautiful!
