CL is a great idea. I have a Janome 8200 that I treated myself to a few yrs back. LOVE it, but I don't take it anywhere, TOO HEAVY! Right after I bought it, I needed something I could take to classes etc. I found a Janome DC3050 brand new in an unopened box on CL. The woman had won it in a drawing and already had several machines. I got it at quite a discount!

You inspired me to do some hand work today MizMelly! What a change of pace
Hope your machine is back home real soon!

I have a 301 in a cabinet just like the first Craigslist link above... only mine is black and a 1937 model. I love it! It sounds wonderful running, and does the nicest straight stitch, always. They have a little fold up handle on top, and you can lift them right out of their cabinet and carry them to wherever they need to go. They only weigh 16 lbs, which is only 4 more than the old featherweights. But they are a full-sized machine. They are also strong and powerful because there is no belt-- they are gear driven with a "potted" (internal) motor. It's pretty rare to find a 301 for sale.

Sales pitch done.

One of my dishcloths is done and I'm getting ready to start the second. These are really fun! Should be ready to mail in a few days.

I've only got the handwork done on one so far. I've been dealing with a sick pooch for about a week. He loves sitting with me when he isn't well and will just haunt me if I'm at the machine! So handwork it is....... He seems better today, so hopefully tonight I'll be able to accomplish something.

Yippeee!!!! My machine is done, but I can't pick it up until Friday. I asked about my little Singer and the shop feels it's worth repairing, so I'll take that with me and see what they think it's going to cost. If the cost is too high, I have my eye on a lightweight Brother that is several steps up from the Featherweight. So excellent! I'll be able to finish my project this weekend and get it shipped out next week to Linny!
