June Secret Pal Sign Up Closes May 30th at Noon

Great packages as usual, Linda so sorry to hear about your dog. I had to put my cat to sleep after 17 years together about 4 years ago and I still miss him. Pinkwater with 3 secret pals, things are bound to get confused, but looks like everyone was very pleased with their packages! Here in Iowa we have LOTS of zucchini so a recipe for zucchini marmalade would be good to have. Keep sending in those private messages when you receive so we can start July sign up! I still show 33 people who have not received their packages. Lori

Linda I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your Lab. I've never been without a dog in my life. Several have had to leave to go to the Rainbow Bridge each so beloved and missed.
You are so right the house becomes so quiet and empty with the loss of a beloved pet.
Welcoming another dog or cat into one's life after the loss of such a special dog or cat is so personal, knowing if right away or months later is right.... is so personal. For me, it is never a long time because for me that the addition of a new member 'pet' in the family doesn't take the place of our pet that has gone, but the new pet fills an empty void in hearts where our beloved pets live. I'm also amazed at the exhuberence /playfulness of a kitten or puppy that our elder pets no longer had, which always brings laughter back onto our faces.

I've had a crazy month or so and haven't been as active on the forums....but am I losing it? I've just started noticing ads on the forum....please tell me they haven't been here for months or is just me that is seeing ads? Always at the header top of the page and sometimes between messages then along the right hand side? I know I'm gettin'/am old .... :0) Like Amazon ~ Proctor and Gamble etc....
I don't know about you...but I can't think of anytime I've ever clicked on an ad link here or any other website...so for me it's not effective advertising....but what do I know? <giggles></giggles>

Onalee, you summed it up perfectly. When we lost our yellow lab, Sunny, it was a long time before we even went looking for another dog. We found Feeney at a shelter when he was just as big as his head. He was puppy of the week. There were two requests for him ahead of us, so my husband said, put one in anyway. We'll never get him ... he's a Puggle and they were the designer dog of that year. Well, surprise! We did. We grew to love him so much that we got the somewhat evil Daisy as a back up ... thinking about how devastated we were at the last loss. Even though Daisy can be a little tough to love ... she makes a horrible growling sound when you pet her ... but that's just her "purr" -- I can't imagine not having her as part of the family.

Thanks Gigi07!!! I got my swap yesterday. It is so fun! Now I'm inspired to get started on that mess (um wonderful, fun projects) I have in my sewing room so I can make some new fun stuff with some of these cute fabrics.
The gardening gloves will have to wait-- besides it's getting too hot outside.
Somehow you knew I must have chocolate to sew. Really! I walk from the sewing room to the cutting room (kitchen counter) and must pass by the candy bowl in the living room on the way for strength!
Thank you for the nice surprises like emery boards and sticky notes too!
