I wonder if we are related??? Mary Josephine is a family name in my mother's family..she is Mary Josephine, her mother was Josephine...so there is your Joespehine, her Josephine, etc, etc, etc. I was lucky ... my mother was not thrilled with the name ..she still goes by Mary Jo...she named me Sharon Ann...no more Josephines in this branch!

Just curious of what you think about it if you have tried it.

I will be purchasing it from joggle.com when I do get the money to

Also on the subject of pin cushions do you look at/for small things
that you can use as bases for pincushions?

I was browsing at a thrift store one and found some cute little "cups"
that I thought would be cute to use. I have 5 of them and they are about
    1-1/2" high by 1-1/2" diam.

Louise, I have used the emory and it is a good item to use. I usually put it in a strawberry shaped cloth.Like the tomato pin cushions come with. It is heavy.I don't know how else to put it on a pincushion and not have it on the top.Really you need it on the bottom for weight.I bought mine on itsy. The lady sells it in different weights.(1/4 lb,1/2 lb etc) It doesn't take but a teaspoon or so for a pincushion. So I got the least amount and still have plenty left a year later.I think the little cups will make darling pincushions.Alot of people on here collect them.Good luck Mary

    Mary,

I started getting a fondness for pincushions when I started getting
    them in my SP boxes.

They are all just to cute to use, not to mention that I seldom (if ever)
use actual pincushions. I LOVE the handmade so that I can display them
and look at them all the time.

Of course my two younger (fur) kids likes them too, so if I don't hang
them up HIGH where they can't get to them then I have to go hunt for
MY pincushions. Thankfully though I ALWAYS make sure the are NO
pins in them, as I don't want them to get hurt from the pins (main
    reason I don't use them).

I found the emery sand on the joggles.com for $5.95 per POUND, when I
do get some I am thinking about using buckwheat hulls (I have a 5# bag)
in the bottom of the cushions (that don't have a "weighted" base) and the
sand in the top. Just an idea though since I have not yet tried it don't know
    how/if it will work.

Louise~I collect pincushions and have had people make me some out of the neatest different types of "small items"....Some are made to look like certain things...example-Lawsonmugs (Mary) made me one that looks like a sewing machine; Ladybug (Rosemary) made me one that looks like a flower with lots of petals and Moedeenie made me a chicken...but then I have some that are made out of other things....one in a dainty tea cup and cup is glued down to the matching saucer, one in a little mini basket with cushion coming out of the top..one on top of a spool of thread...these are just some of the ones I have...there are so many cute ones that can be made from other things...the little cups on your picture will be adorable for them.

I found those little cups as goodwill of all places. They have a
    "rough" sandy texture to them.

Those little cups look like they are Japanese sake cups....it should have had a matching sake pitcher to go with it.

now that you mention it, that is what they look like. the pitcher probably has been long separated from the cups.
