I received a lovely note from Sharon, she would love very much if we could make quilts for her two great neices, Alexis and Victoria. They will miss their mom so much, and so i thought a kisses and hugs quilt pattern would be so perfect. I have a link to the pattern here:

    http://www.quiltpox.com/patterns/Hugs/

These will make 10 inch finished blocks (10 1/2 unfinished) We can use their directions if anyone finds that easier, or we can make them all out of 2 1/2" patches (2 inches finished). I think if some are made the pattern way, and others are made with all patches, it will look good with both. I prefer to do the patches myself. You can see in that quilt that lots of dif fabrics are used, the main thing is for us each to use a white background on our block. I think if we pick any kind of girly colours, they will look nice. Maybe some pinks and purples, yellows, etc. I'm thinking, these are 10" blocks, so we could make the quilts 50 x 70. I'm not sure yet if Sharon would like to put the finished blocks together, or if she would like us to do that for her. So i was thinking, whoever would like to do this, if you could make them in sets, for every x you make, make an o also. That way we have an even number of x's and o's. So one x and one o we can call a set. We wil need 35 sets altogether to make both quilts. Please post those that would like to do this, and let's post our blocks as we get them done, this will be fun to see what we are all doing. Does this sound good everyone? I will try and make some up tomorrow for sure

    I think it's a great idea!!
If Sharon doesn't want to put it together, I'll do it.
Squares can be sent to me and I can finish the top and bat and back it. I have enough batting (full roll and a half roll), so no problem there and I'm about to make a HUGE order for backing fabric.

Oh Terri, that would be wonderful if you put them together.

I would like to help. I would prefer to do my blocks the pattern way. Would you prefer that the two blocks (one set) are done in the same color scheme (Pink and White for both) or does that matter?
    Thanks!

I'll make blocks - an X and an O, right? Or should we do two sets, one for each girl? And I guess the X can be pink and the O green or lilac or yellow or whatever? They don't have to be the same, right? Looking at he pattern, there is one colour and white in each block. Must this be the same fabric or is just the same colour OK? I don't mind doing it from 2.5" squares or using the 6.5" strip, I think I've got big enough scraps for either method. Let me know which you prefer.

I've got some pretty pale pink and green rosey fabric left from my little girl's lap quilt that I'd like to use. I like the idea that something of my daughter's goes to those two little girls. And I'v got plenty of white on white for the background.

BTW - this made me cry, Barb's idea then Terri's response straight away that she'd do the joining. You girls are great! :D

I will make two sets tonight. Should it be plain white background or white on white pattern?

I think either plain OR white on white would be fine.
The blocks can be put together alternating the backgrounds also.

I can make a label for the back of the quilt with everyone who participates also.
Maybe embroider their names on the top front too? I can do that!
