I did a search on Pinterest for "scrappy nine patch quilts" and found many that would be great for our blocks. Hope that everyone will post pics of their finished quilts.

So here's an idea but it isn't mine. FaintlyArtistic posted a tutorial on a no-waste (or very little waste) granny squares quilt using 9 patches as the foundation. You can find it here: Easy, no waste Granny Square block tutorial If someone is looking for ideas about how to finish their 9 patches, you can go with her suggestion of adding closely matching squares to the 9Ps you will have to make the pattern. It's a well-written tut. Check it out.

I used that tute to make a charity lap quilt with 5" squares. Its genius, but you need a design wall or lots of layout space. I'm going to do the same search as obrien and see what I come up with.

Lots of great ideas on pinterest... Look how cute this one is, with star point blocks alternated:

    And I love this!

Alternated with rail fence blocks... looks so great!

And you can alternate hourglass blocks with the 9Ps, to make them look framed and 'on point'.

So much fun. Why not make several?

Wow, all those settings are beautiful! It's going to be so fun seeing what everyone will make with their 9 patches.

I love the first one with the hearts. I had planned to do mine with hourglasses as a QAYG, but it just won't work that way. The sashing will kill the on point look. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

This is the one that originally got me interested in the nine patch swap, but now I've seen so many others that I'm just not sure. Are those hearts appliquéd? I'm not a big fan of that technique.

They look appliqued to me... but you can do something else. Even alternate a 6.5" print block with the 9Ps.

All of these links look great. And NZQuilter just reminded me she is doing Sister's Choice with hers. I'm tempted by Sister's Choice, but I still love the look of the blocks just sewn directly together, alternating lights and darks as much as possible.

Just went back and looked at Sister's Choice - now I'm even more confused! I like that one too! My list has at least 10 possible choices.
