Donna, it looks like your HST's may be set on wrong...Please make sure you are cutting the correct sizes. As you sew each section, measure to see if it's 12 1/2" before setting all rows together. Hope this helps.. Practice makes purrr-fect..

    QuilterMomma----LOVE your block.

Bloomin'Iris---I am a newbie also. I joined this board and have done several swaps. I joined the Boomerang swap so was able to try many, many different blocks. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. I have received two very nice blocks from this Monthly Quilting Bee Swap. In seeing all the variety on here, I felt like maybe I shouldn't be doing this swap due to lack of experience. Everyone seems more advanced than myself. But, it is nice to see another newbie wanting to get involved. The best thing is seeing all the wonderful comments from the "veteran" quilters on here. Dotcomdtcm has been very helpful to me. Because of the comments and help from dotcomdtcm, I would like to try extra swaps. Please PM me if interested.

Good luck bloomin'Iris. This board if full of wonderful friends!!!!

Oh Sue, you'll do fine..As the saying goes, "just bite the bullet"..Start out with simple blocks, that you can figure out to do.. Experience is the best teacher, so just keep trying, you'll learn. You did fine on my block.

    :D

You are doing GREAT, I am trying to use the light tan and beige colors for the background to tie the whole quilt together, no worries if you can't change it. OK, i just have to say this. Your work is fine and you don't have to knock your self down because everything that is made is awork of art from your heart and like I said you are doing GREAT. I am just now working on some extra swaps of black, red and white and it was paper piecing star and after 4 tries to get it right I filed it in the circular bin and started on a different star. Sometimes just moving on is better than the frustration. OK, enough preaching.
Love ya and again you are doing GREAT
