ok I see these scrappy quilts and think wow they are beautiful. I think maybe its the placement of colors? I tried a true scrappy a year ago and ended up wanting to... barf when it was done. I thought omg this plum ugly. what is it with me??? I even bought a book on making scrappies controlled and otherwise and I think I am more into the controlled because I just cant open up enough to make the other ones. I love them just cant do it. sigh.

that turtle fabric: I have that one! bought a packet of under the sea fabric last year turtles, waves, see rocks, and I have not made anything with it .. YET> thought it would be great with some sand fabric also and make a younger childs quilt. Time to get off my duff!

I get a good crack up at those shirts that say things on them. First off everyone of us reads them right? someone walks by you try quick to see what it said. just me. I cant wear them too high up on the neck but they are always fun. You have to know if you wear them you are giving someone else a bit of joy too

Lynnie, kiffie I am like both of you. Pics? you got PICS? I want to see them! oh yes I do. they are inspiration for sure. I think we have had past months all put together for us into one or two pictures. Its a joy to see the difference in creativity and styles. Modern, vintage( oh yes) and the traditional. There is always so many to say oh and ah over and I wish I had made that one! You are gifting ideas to the rest of us when you share them. oh and pics of new babies, other hand made projects, gorgeous sunsets, awful snow storms. we love those too. we are not too picky lol. it keeps conversation going, starts new chats and it really helps to know where your people are from, what they love (always good for future reference) .. so post you pictures. tell your stories. share with us and we will share back with you. Its a gorgeous sunny day in Wyoming. The man has gone fishing today which means the house is all MINE! yippee! quiet time is so much appreciated. no war movies or action things on the tv.. just me. cooking show which I love even as background.. and a sewing machine or oven to play with. I am very happy. and if I am too tired? books love those books, romance? mystery? thriller? yup pick one any one and it keeps me busy for one day. then I need a new one. Love my cats, my dog, my books my machine, my kitchen for cooking and sewing, and this stunning view I have of Cody. I am so lucky.

ps my daughter has found her wedding dress! and booked her venue! and got her invites done. I am sooo glad she has these done, I am even more happy that she did it by herself. I would be taking a long month nap if I had to do those things. my current job is going to be making 14 table runners for her event. burlap and lace. anyone sewn with that before? thinking of fusing the lace or the back of the burlap because my fear is one or the other will stretch or move while sewing which would be a serious issue. any ideas on this is more than welcome please send me a pm and help me out. what was I thinking? oh sure I will make you runners. had visions of cotton. real quilting cotton. not burlap!

Linda, Burlap must be "in" this year! I made valances for my kitchen curtains with them...they turned out really cute! I made the curtains out of a print called feed sacks....it has (as you might have guessed) a hen some chicks and baskets of eggs on it. I wanted to use burlap because that is what the bags of chicken feed used to come in. It was easy to sew with, but it does fray on the ends. If you sew them down right away or even use tape until you sew them it will be easy for you. My burlap was green. My goal was to make my curtains out of stash fabrics and so I used some leftover green burlap that I had lined my window boxes with last year.

I want to see pictures of your runners when you are done! Enjoy your Man-Free day!!! lol

With the "Brat's" kind permission ... I'm going to try and sell you onto another project

Here's a link to a new boomerang swap where you get to choose what kind of block you'd like to have made for you. Repeat a boom #3 aka rab #3

I'm not the hostess of it, but sure would like to see some of you join up. There was a little confusion at first on the guidelines (she posted the older ones...oopps ) but all is clear now. Here's a little about it also:

You do send your f8 (11 x 18) along with your pattern to the Hostess of the swap. You can either make copies of the pattern (so you make special notes if you wish) or post what pattern you wish to have used with your fabric. If you mail copies of the pattern with your f8 you will know beyond a doubt everyone will have the correct pattern. Be sure to put your board name on the pattern in case it becomes separated from your f8. You will also need to be clear in your desires for your fabric - such as "Please use my f8 in the "xyz" portion of the pattern and please use "white or white on white" or "use any fabric that matches the colors in my f8 and have fun"...

You will then be making a block for each f8 you receive from the hostess. They should also either have the pattern enclosed along with any special notes or have the pattern posted on this thread. I'd still suggest at least putting the web location on paper to send with if you are unable to print out patterns for everyone. If you are unclear as to their requests, it's better to ask because others may also have the same question.

I haven't participated in this swap but I have participated in several boomerang swaps and love the idea of everyone creating the same pattern for me. As our hostess urgodschild2 has stated in the rules and perhaps the most scary part is being sure your block measures 12 1/2" correctly. If in doubt, to me, leave it a little bit oversize and let the receiver trim it down...easier to trim...real hard to get them to grow .

Looking forward to this swap and having more fun.

Would love to have some of you sign up -- the sign ups go through February unless it gets full before then. You'd have until mid June to complete the blocks so there isn't a lot of pressure from this. Hope you check it out.

This is what was in the package I received from Sewbizgirl in today's mail. Quite a nice haul, two mug rugs one for St Patty's day, plus one for dreaming for summer, a packet of fabric squares, a fat quarter, jelly bellies, hot chocolate mix, a hanger card, and a personal note card. I LOVE all of it. Thanks Bonnie for the wonderful package. You made my day...

Dee1245,
Nice haul!! I love Snoopy on your mug rug..

Brat,
Here's a couple of links to some images to give you ideas, I know whatever you make will look great:

http://www.google.com/search?q=burla...iw=400&bih=600

http://www.google.com/search?q=burla...&start=20&sa=N

When my son married, I had the bright idea maybe they could have an aisle runner, that was personalized with their names and wedding date in the wedding colors. Of course I didn't specify who would do the personalization...lol
But, I did it, and honestly it was easier than I figured, looked pretty, and it was nice I could contribute something. Being the mom of the groom is different than being the mom of the bride.
Or so I hear...as I only have the 1 son, I'll never know...

Anyway, just enjoy yourself.

Kiffie, those links show some cool ideas! I found burlap incredibly easy to work with. There are a lot of tutorials out there as well. Brat, you'll make some beautiful runners I am sure! Are you inspired????
