I am married to hubs #3, and this is by FAR the happiest marriage for me.
My first wedding was SMALL counting my family there was a total of 10-12
people there. My dress was simple, it had a beaded edge hood that attached
to the the dress collar, cost me $98 at a wedding dress shop. It was the ONLY
dress I truly liked when I went to at dresses. This was in 1981. Married in the
Salvation Amry Church by the Captain. Oh and I was YOUNG!! just 16 years old,
and was a widow at 18.
My second marriage I went to the mall and found a beautiful outfit that was
a top and skirt in cream. The top had long sleeves with inset lace caps, and the
back was all lace that went down into a short "train" about to the rump. The outfit
cost $100 in 1990. I was married to him for just under 7 years. He died 1 year
after I left him. Long story but his death is NO great loss to this world. We drove to
to Gaffney, SC to get married and the "marrying judge" we was told to just say "yes"
to every question asked, because the judge (who was in his 90's and had 2 strokes)
couldn't speak clearly. He was the SAME judge who married my 1st MIL when she
got married the first time.
When hubs #3 and I got married we went to the drivers license office told them we
wanted to get married, the lady handed us the marriage license said fill this out in full.
So I completed the marriage license handed it back to her she looked it over, said she
would be right back. 10 minutes later she comes back hands the marriage license to
us, after it had been notarized, and filed, handed us a "gift" bag with coupons said
congradulations you are now married. Total cost of the wedding I think it was $10 for
the cost of the filing.
By far the happiest marriage for me, and the longest lasting come September 12th
we will celebrate our 15/12 (15 together 12 married).

My wedding grew as more people got involved...wanted a judge to marry us..nope sis wasnt having that so she got the minister from her church. No courthouse with him and we said no to a big church wedding. We ended up getting married at a friend home where I lived at the time. Just mothers, fathers and siblings. Sis was making my dress but when looking for a dress for my mother at j c penny ( they had a wedding dress dept back then) my mother insisted on looking at the wedding dresses. So I ended up with one, off the rack. Then mother in law insisted on a reception..so we had one in the hall at a restaurant where I worked. It was a weird combo...police chief, mayor ect..his side. People those cops put in jail a lot...my side. Whole reception cost 300.00, food, booze and all. Aunt made a beautiful cake for our gift. It was nasty. Found most of it behind the logs in the fireplace after! That was 42years ago and we are still going strong!
