It is a monthly swap and there is some overlap. Each month is different. Sign up for the ones you like. To clarify:

December is blacks/whites/brights and is due 1/20
January is Batiks and is due 2/28
February is Valentines and is due 3/30

Anything else - - - -let me know!

The previous sets I made will now serve as a border round for top made from a previous swap that was also Black/White/Bright, though all different blocks.

Stitch124, Definitely chain piecing is the way to go. I think doing one step over and over is the fastest. I did 3 sets one day, then 2 sets another day (30's swap). I sewed all, ironed all, then cut all, etc. With the batiks, I did the 4-patch for all 6 sets one day. But one batik I didn't like, so I ordered a different fabric. Now I have it, so I will do the 4-patch, then chain piece all the sets, etc. I don't think it matters what you rotate-- just make it so that your end layout is correct.

Hi -- I did some chain piecing last night for my December blocks and it did seem to move along faster. I also decided to follow the instructions on Jane's first message just to be sure I am following the correct format. Thinking I will recut some b/w and w/b squares and remake some blocks using a very scant 1/4" seam as my blocks are coming out shy by about 1/8" <DARN>

Thanks for your input givio! As always -- your advice is very very helpful.

    Have a great day.

After reading your post yesterday stitch124 I flipped a set the way you described and it came out the same way. Had never timed myself to see how long it actually took me to make a set of 6 plus 1 for myself. I already had the blocks of batiks and blacks cut out into the squares. Clock set: sewed each set together by two's, resew into a 4 patch, iron, make the inch cuts, resew all again, iron, check size and stack. 1 hour and 14 minutes. I did chain piece every step for all 7. about 10 1/2 minutes per block. Then I had 3 left to do on another set and just made those blocks individually and it took much longer doing them one by one, about 14 minutes each. So for me chain piecing is way faster. The pattern for the Valentine one's are going to take longer I'm sure with the way it's cut. I'll have to find another routine to speed it up.

Oh pretty! Especially like that b/w fabric duo on the completed set.
Love seeing all the different combinations everyone is coming up with. I never ceases to amaze me how we have very few if any duplications of the b/w fabrics even though there are so many of us.

    Default Blocks in the mail

    Hi all --

Just a note to share the two sets of blocks that are going into the mail today. Wishing I could contribute more, but not enough hours in the day.

Now to get busy on the Batiks and Valentines blocks. Committed to 2 sets each but I will try to do more if time allows.
