Our family never made any big deal about Santa, so I was trying to explain to him that at one time there was a Saint Nicholas who delivered gifts to the children of his village, etc. So a couple days later the neighbor boy was over playing, the same age as my DS. All of a sudden the kid ran home screaming, "I'm telling my mom!" Shortly the phone rang and the neighbor was on the phone asking what went on, that her son came home all hysterical crying that Santa was dead. So I got my DS aside and asked him what happened with Bradley. He says, " It's time he knew the truth. I told him Santa was dead." The boy was always and still is, a person of very few words, and doesn't waste them. I still laugh at that, but the neighbor didn't think it was so funny. I learned then that kids take things so literally, that we have to be really careful how we word things.
I wonder how his mom explained it.

It's fun watching kids grow into having a sense of humor, without taking things literally. When mine were very young, almost every time my dh would tell my son (around 3 yo) something (usually exaggerated), ds would turn to me for affirmation.

I hope this helps my secret santa. But, if you have already put together my gift, I will love what you have for me. I really do save and enjoy my past ss gifts and treasure them.
Yes, quite a few of us seem to have silent partners.

When my kids decided that Santa was not real, I reminded them about all the wonderful Christmas mornings after "Santa" came. Then using the power of suggestion, I also "reminded" them of the holidays after they did not believe...Of course I emphasized how much better Santa years were. The reason why is that parents try to make up for Santa - since he won't come to disbelievers. Moms and Dads can't afford to give as good as Santa!! I actually had almost my entire 3rd grade class back believing one year!!

    I Believe In Santa Claus

    I believe in Santa Claus
    I believe in Santa Claus
I believe there's always hope when all seems lost
And I believe in Santa Claus
I believe in Santa Claus, I'll tell you why I do
'Cause I believe that dreams and plans and wishes can come true
I believe in miracles, I believe in magic too
Oh I believe in Santa Claus and I believe in you

I believe in family, in country and in smiles
I believe in turnin' negatives to positives in life
I believe in lookin' farther up the farther down we get
I believe when someone hurts us we should forgive and forget

And I believe in Santa Claus
    I believe in Santa Claus
I believe love should prevail at any cost
And I believe in Santa Claus

I believe in saying what you mean and meaning what you say
I believe a better attitude can make a better way
And I believe in viewing life as a journey that we're on
And lookin' at our troubles as another stepping stone

And I believe that everything in life is what it's meant to be
I believe there is a God somewhere although he's hard to see
I believe I am so therefore I should do all that I can
To be a better piece in the puzzle of God's plan

And I believe in Santa Claus
    I believe in Santa Claus
I believe there's always hope when all seems lost
And I believe in Santa Claus

Let the little children sing it

I believe in Santa Claus, I believe in Santa Claus
I believe in Santa Claus, I believe in Santa Claus

Let the whole world sing it with us

I believe in Santa Claus, I believe in Santa Claus

I could use some Christmas fabric, I'm almost out! The last few years fabric choices have been icky, so didn't buy any. The one thing on my wish list....the small version of the apple template. I've got a HUGE charm square collection & I want to do an apple core quilt out of it. Only place I've seen it is at Missouri Star Quilt Company.

I live west of the Mississippi! Maybe me???

Since we are dishing out a bit more info about ourselves....
I really like yellows and oranges.... don't have a need for magazines as I have a couple of friends who get them all and pass them along, which in turn I pass along to someone else.
We don't exchange gifts in my family so anything that will be in the box will be delightful and appreciated!
