A FQ (Fat Quarter) is the vertical half, of a half yard of fabric. It's roughly 18" x 22" or whatever half the width of the fabric is. Most people buy them already cut, at places like Hobby Lobby, LQS, Joann's, etc. For the four FQs, choose four different ones, you think your SS person will like. 
The 4 FQs are sent, in addition to the $20 gift goodies.
