Please remember Jenni, everyone on here whom you might admire... started out as a beginner. I am positive your quilt is beautiful, especially to the receiver. Your personal care and effort is what counts. God bless you. Be encouraged!

We all had a first doll quilt. When I look back on the first one I sent I feel so ashamed, but each month I try new techniques and I think I'm improving. Every doll quilt is full of love and I'm sure your partner will love it!

Hang in there and keep on quilting!

I'm embarrassed over my first dq as well -- I was new, and it went to someone who I later saw was very, very talented. She was very gracious and made me feel very good about my effort. Because of their small size, I think we see our tiny imperfections on our dq's as glaring screwups. I find I spend a LOT of time on them, more than I do working on bigger projects. But I've learned to relax and not obsess over it -- have fun and play with new techniques or new patterns. This is meant to be a learning experience as well as a gift of time to someone who will appreciate the effort that goes into quilting. I wish I could say that about other people I've given stuff to.

Good point Jenni and Nancy, I was just working on my doll quilt for this month and hated getting to the binding part. I haven't mastered that yet and don't like it when I come up to that point. Otherwise I am happy with what I have done.

But, like you, I learn each time I make a new doll quilt... to cut a little better, to not cut so close or to.... so on and so on. It is great practice.

I also happen to fall in love with the quilts I am making and have determined to make twins next time: one for me and one for my swap partner.

Oh gosh, I am making my self laugh.... LOL LOL
