Even the 10 minute block would take me an hour so I would hate to think of how long yours would take me! It is beautiful though!

OK here is the finished top. I marked the quilting lines after I took the picture. However, my understanding with Cathedral Stars is that you don't generally use batting, just the backing. Is that true? Will I need to change my FMQ to accommodate no batting? It doesn't seem heavy - should I use batting anyway?

    HELP!!!!

Wow ladies, you all have been very busy! We left mid December for a 10 day trip to spend Christmas with son in Washington and planned a family remodel of their kitchen. Took a little longer and ended up being the bathroom too, needless to say we just got home this week. I swear I had withdrawal pains. Need to get busy on a wall hanging for the swap. Love your new ones ube, the library is fabulous ....and no mistakes JNCT, I call it character

Very pretty JNCT. Sorry, no help in regards to your batting question because I have never done a Cathedral Star. However, why wouldn't you want to use batting> My MIL made me a Cathedral Window bag one time and she used batting between the top and bottom.

The cathedral stars are very pretty. I think in traditional cathedral windows no batting is used b/c of the multiple folded layers of fabric especially before machine quilting. I don't think there is anything wrong w/ using batting if you want to.

JNCT, The quilt is fabulous and there is no need to use batting unless you want to. It will give the quilting more dimension. The block itself is so pretty that it stands alone without needing much quilting. Can you post a picture of the back? I think this is a most stunning quilt.
