That is so pretty. I love secondhand stores. I used to collect fascinator hats before they became trendy and way expensive. Still working on bookcase wall hanging. My friend in Florida loved her Desert Rose WH so Anna, yours has a cross country twin!

It would also make a great quilting pattern on whole cloth, imho.

I am thinking of what to make for this next wall hanging swap and at first a winter wall hanging comes to my mind but looking at when the wall hanging will go to its home maybe it should be a spring or summer wall hanging.

LOL Ube just incase I send it to myself? Well I am making a similar block out of the center part of the wall hanging for myself. So I guess I like it a lot. I am having fun. But thanks for the encouragement. I often over ride my own likes thinking others might prefer it different. I sure hope it will speak to some one else too.

Ube I really like your Scrappidy Do Da top. Was it hard to make? I have a lot of older florals that I think would work well in that type of quilt. Chad's top is equally scrappy licious.

OK ladies - I promised you a story - so I went looking for the artist who had created the bookcase quilt I am making for my friend Vicky. I did find her - in the Netherlands! Her site was in Dutch, but I guessed at a few things and was able to contact her. Fortunately she did read and write English. Her name is Willeke de la Chambre. I told her that I would be drafting a pattern for the bookcase quilt and I think I will send her a copy when done. So skaduzy and Cogito - give me about two weeks and I will have a pattern for you! Here is Willeke's response (make sure you go to the link as well - it shows the work in progress by the ladies):

    Hello Janice,

As far as I know, there is no pattern.
The bookshelf quilt is made bij Marijke.
She asked us, the participants of a block-swap, to make a block (20x20 cm) by our own design.
The only thing she asked us, was to use a light fawn fabric as back ground.

    http://www.willekedelachambre.nl/it-giet-oan-1-marijke/

We were allowed to put some sculptures (or something like that) between. Just as we would do at our shelfs at home
The cat is a picture of Marijke's cat, printed at fabric.
It was the block she made herself.
I also think she designed the clock herself. As did she with the scissors etc.
After that... she arranged all the blocks, the way she likes it.

I wish you a lot of succes. Ik hope this is a bit helpful (and that can you understand my 'English')
    Kind regards, Willeke

    Isn't that nice?
