Here in Australia at Christmas time it is a tradition that we have rich fruit cake and plum pudding. I make a few fruit cakes each year and several plum puddings. The recipes I use are very old ones and ones that have been in my husbands family for generations. He comes from a line of very good cooks and master bakers. I give them to family and friends as well as keeping one of each for us. I usually put one fruit cake in the freezer for a "just in case" occasion. This year with time running short I iced last years fruit cake as a christening cake for my youngest grandson.
Fruit cake, plum pudding, mince meat.....YUM! But I'm the only one in my family who likes any of it, so I rarely get it. Maybe a little quilt of them will satisfy my desires for Christmas.
Got home last night from a full week at Art Quilt Tahoe with Rosalie Dace-FANTASTIC! It inspired my Nov FPC. Now, back to the real world and catching up on the rest of my life including QB. Since I didn't go with materials for FPC, I improvised, which didn't quite work. So now need to make it postal service ready, then out it goes.

Oh Betty, that is beautiful!! I bet it is just as scrumptious as it looks. There is nothing like a recipe handed down that is tried and true. But the decorating is all you. It is just lovely. Congrats on the wee one's blessing day.

BettyJ -- my hubby is from Ireland, so we have those traditional items for the holidays. Plum pudding & fruit cake. I love the fruit cake they have in Ireland & even make it myself. Everyone's recipe is just a little different, but I've never had a bad experience with fruit cake in the 5 years we lived there. I'm already drooling for it!
Thank you, nhnative & JuneBillie. So glad you like my plum pudding postcard! I had a hard time thinking about what to do for the postcard & almost didn't sign up, as I kept thinking, everyone has pie, right? Then I remembered the plum pudding!
By the way, Judith, dfelker has received my card ... so ... just pointing out the obvious!
