October Postcard Swap
#52
My partner pm'd me and I pm'd her back today...my PC is nearing completion, hooray!
I had a head start because I already had a word.
I spent a day organizing my fabrics, too. When I joined QB last February, I posted how I had no fabric and had gone out to buy scraps of quarter yards. HAHAHA. But seriously folks, now I know what kind of fabric I'm missing (solids or those kind of 'patterned' solids I forget what you call them}.
I'm taking a quilting class. I'm cutting for my first quilt. I was determined to use fabric from what I had. It won't set any design awards: it will be rather bland - it will most certainly not be winning any awards lol. I prefer to call it 'restful'. But perhaps this month's PC will make up for it...I can only hope.

I went to very enjoyable Quilters morning gathering today to hear a wonderful Art Quilt lady speak and to see her magnificent Art Quilts displayed. They were just mind blowing and a privilege to see. I will paste a link to her web site here so you too can enjoy these wonderful quilts made by this very talented lady.

Hi Judith,
I have sent a P/M to ckcowl vamp with my name and address and looking forward to receiving a card from her. Thanks for all your patience with me as I have tried to get the hang of the swap procedure... Enjoy your grandkid time. It is always special.

It looks like I'm the first to receive their postcard. What a nice card with a nice note saying how easy it is to give and that might make a difference in someone's life. Thanks again Kim (lovethemgreys)

Ladies last year I had posted a message asking that you participate in the request for Christmas cards for the Veterans in the Walter Reed Army Medical center so I am posting this information in case anyone wants to do it this year. The following information came from the WRMMC website.

[TD="class: ms-formbody"]Every year there is a Facebook Post that goes viral asking citizens to send Holiday Cards for service members, veterans and families receiving care to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Walter Reed Army Medical Center, on Georgia Ave closed more than 5 years ago. Any cards sent to 5900 Georgia Ave addressed to "Any Soldier," or to "A Recovering American Soldier" will be returned to sender because the address no longer exists.
Also, if you see the Facebook Post, please help us by responding to correct it.
This year you can also assist a service member, veteran and their families by providing cards they can send home to their loved ones this holiday season. The deadline for all cards including Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa is Friday, November 30, 2016.
Items to include in each bundle:
3 blank holiday cards (same holiday per bundle and no glitter)
3 blank envelopes with postage stamps
1 short message to the service member (do not included contact information, only first name) Bundled with a ribbon
Please drop off or mail completed bundles to:
American Red Cross in the National Capital Region
ATTN: Holiday Mail for Heroes
8550 Arlington Blvd
Fairfax, VA 22031
If you would like to continue sending signed holiday cards in the traditional sense, please contact your local Red Cross office, Military Treatment Facility or VA Hospital to obtain the local guidelines.
Up-to-date information will be posted on our page and please feel free to call the American Red Cross (https://www.facebook.com/RedCrossWRNMMC/) at 301 295 1538 if you have any questions!
