Deb, here is what could be salvaged from the mess, not what I had intended, but I think it will be fine. I'll be mailing it in the coming week. Thanks for hosting another swap. Even during your own personal disaster, you were available for us.

just remember, all the dusting, prunning, fertilizer, and watering that goes with them....but I do love the fragrance. The ones in my garden already have little shoots and buds...I cant wait

I do know all the love and work that goes into those beautiful roses...I have a yard full myself. I have some that are getting their leaves, no buds yet : (

Here is a way I save all the trimmings from doing this block. I save all the HST that are left over, use them either to make a block, use in a border, use to frame the label on the back & have even used them for the binding.

I use this method whenever I am sewing flying geese, or any other time I am trimming enough to save.

These hst's can be saved to make a scrap quilt, as well.

Hope you find this method usefull.

start with original line drawn corner to corner

draw 2nd line 1/2" from first line

    2 lines drawn

    sew first line as usual

now sew second line, both can be stripped pieced

    set seams with iron

line ruler to cut between lines, leaving 1/4" seam for both

    cut blocks apart

    2 sections,

    spray starch, & press

    pressing small hst open

    hst all the same size

you now have your original block & usable hst's, with no bias edges to deal with, ready for use.
