I found this nifty printable template that lets you make 12 2-1/2" HSTs at once, and they're "on grain", not on the bias. Here's a link. There are lots of other sizes, too.

I've got my HSTs made using the template. They actually came out a little larger than 2-1/2", which I like because it gives extra wiggle room. Now to sew them into pinwheels!

Edit: Ah. I just noticed that the sizes on the template are the finished sizes. Duh. No wonder they came out bigger than 2-1/2"! LOL!

You know, I didn't send in any pinwheels. After seeing these, I just may have to rethink this thing! Good job. They look great!

I use a product called thangles. Its just like the file you posted except the paper templates are in strips.Thangles come in sizes up 6 inches. With the template you shared I won't have to cut my fabric into 2 1/2 strips before I start. Will save time and since thangles cost about $4 a pack some $ too. Thanks for sharing.

I was thinking the same. I was worried about making such small pinwheels but this would help.
