Woohoo!!!! Thank you all for selecting such wonderful fabric, and especially Linda for all your hard work. This was such a fun swap, can't wait to see what is up for the next one!
|
I got mine! All the fabric is so beautiful. Thank you luv and everyone that participated in this swap. Now on to the next one!
|
I got up this morning, put on coffee and had to set in some quiet time around 5:00 AM. Sat down at my table to look at them again...I am just amazed that how they all contrast each other! I over cut some of the ones I sent..the Lizard. So I may include them. I got my box of Batiks down and went thru them. I have a few ideas but not sure...
Does anyone know what you're going to do with yours?! Curious! And too I need some ideas! I don't want to cut them down to much as it leaves to little fabric to show... I thought about a half fold triangle. Is that to boring or what?? |

Type it with your nose if you have to! Just keep in communication. And Cusual?? I'd like to see formal on here! HA! One thing I like about this board is that we can be ourselves and if we do make errors, everyone understands! You're doing just fine Gardner!!!

Gardner, ya know I use to be that way until I figured the best way to be was to be yourself. I tried to be the way others thought I should be and that got me in more hot water than anything. So, I'm just me! I like you being the way you are too, remember you can't please everyone and those you can't, well they're probably not worth your time. I don't mean anything mean by that either. I've been just been run over so many times to where I say the heck with them! And I know what you mean buy coming here is the most fun of the day. I can't get my Christmas gifts done for coming here so much! Ha! But today was all business. I had to clean carpet alllll day long! I'm just setting down now and it's near 11 pm. I'll pay for it tomorrow with this arthritis but it had to be done! So, until later, have a good day!!!
|
so who's still missing theirs?? everyone's envies arrived safe and sound ???
|
Mine came in just fine and I'm SOOooo happy with them!! can't wait for the next Swap! Thank you Linda!
|
This swap was fun.. I really, really like the bigger squares so I think that's what we will stay with for 2011... It was soooooooooo much easier to swap than the million 5 inch I-spy squares were.. Ok I know there wasn't that many but it sure felt like it..
So what does everyone think of a 'Stash Buster Surprise' swap? instead of buying a yard take a yard from your own stash.( cut into 12 ct 10.5 inch squares) No purchase necessary!! it could be anything from your very own stash of fabric.. Batik, calico, floral, solids, blenders, oriental,etc.. I figured it would be a nice one to do since everyone was spending money over the holidays and this would be a break- No spending $$ on fabrics but yet you can still participate.. But it must be unwashed fabric tho.. Whatcha think????? |
You mean like a trade (swap) of one yard surprise fabric? Cool, I'm in! I have some really nice stuff I'm sure someone would like! Good Idea!
|
Well from the yard you would cut up twelve 10.5 inch squares.. Its just instead of going out and buying fabric use any unwashed 100% cotton fabric you have on hand..
it was just an idea i thought Id throw out there to see if there was any interest.. |
OH ok I see, yeah sure that would be great! I have some great Orientals, Loads of peacock feather prints, more batiks, loads of calico and floral and so on, so yeah! Thats great thinking! Everyone will be in more suspense than before since it's such a wide catagory!!
|
So sorry I didn't let you know earlier...Long story short, I had to go to Texas because my mom was ill and unfortunately she passed away on Sunday. Needless to say I have not been in good spirits so it was a wonderful treat to be able to look through all the wonderfully beautiful batiks. I really enjoyed this swap....LOT OF FUN!

For some reason I haven't been getting the messages for this page. Anyway, I think the idea for the next swap is a good one. I hope I don't miss it when you decide to do it.
|
I'm pretty sure I posted that I got mine but if I didn't I did so here is the post!! LOL!! I made the mistake of showing them to my mom. 'Those are beautiful' she says 'Those would make a really nice quilt' she says. So guess what I'm gonna do with mine!! Mom's getting a quilt for Christmas or maybe her birthday it's not until April! It was a blast being in this swap!! I'd be willing to do it again!

Guess What-
I ordered a twister tool to use with 10 inch and 5 inch squares. Know I'll know what to use for the following year. Ideas: I pmed them to you - but I'll put them here A dart board with the color wheel on it and then label the darts by months, if two darts land on the same area you have to throw one of them again. Use the seasons to decide the colors. Use the birthstones to decide the colors. Use the holidays to decide, some holidays are easier to find fabric for. But I think whatever you decide - us quilters will be happy and excited to do. I keep checking this page because I do not want to miss the next one. |
Some great ideas for another swap. Whatever yu decide, I'm pretty sure I'm in also. Still waiting for the blocks to fly over the oceans.
Lucky I'm a patient person! |

This is just an FYI for anyone who mails internationally. We found some things out the hard way during the first IRR, plus I mail internationally to a couple of QMB members. Since there is no income tax outside of the US, there is pretty much a tax on EVERYTHING, including packages received. If you put a value of more than about $5.00 on something, (including insurance) the RECIPIENT must pay a VAT (Value Added Tax) in order to receive it. I sent a package to Canada, and insured it for $200.00. The recipient had to pay $40.00 Canadian, (about $50.00 US) to get it. So the best value is under $10.00, unless you include cash in the package to pay for any taxes. This is just a heads-up for anyone who is going to send internationally. |
Gee, I bet a lot of us didn't know that! I sure didn't! Thanks for the info!!
|
Still not there, but usually takes around 10 - 12 days to get here. Will let you know when it shows up. thanks again for being such a great host Linda.
|
Yikes.!!! I told her it was a 'gift' but there was a section for value so I valued her package at $25.. Sorry Lindyline.. If you join the next swap let me know what to put where on the form..

Next time, either put gift with zero value, or put like give & $5.00. |

I am so happy to have received positive interest in my future swaps- I will continue to have them until they are no longer fun for me- but no worries, Im truly having a blast being Hostess!!! Happy Holidays everyone!!! And happy quilting!!! ~ Everyone get their Packages? |
Hey thats great!! I want to do more than 2 this time!! Thank you for letting us know, it gives some of us something to look forward to since we aren't doing to much these days. I don't get to much company, family is all I have for the most part and they have their own families, so this board fills a great void for me.
Thank you again so much for doing it... |
