help guys on the color catcher question!! anyone??? good thing we at least gave it one round with the color catchers right?? now what to do... I did rub six of my fabrics with a damp clothe.. five passed the test after washing. one still bleeds on to a rag so not using it. big trouble is: I used some of that fabric scraps in a quilt top I am making already. not this one but my medallion.. just a few 2.5" squares.. but its next to white!! so if I wash that with color catchers when its finished quilting will it bleed still onto my white area? its not in an easy spot to remove those few squares.. like 12" into that quilt top.. argh!!
I worked on my quilt for you Tam Moo today :) its now 45" square..two options: one it can end up a square 60" inch quilt or I can make it rectangular and a bit longer than 60" which is fine with me.. just need to know so I can plan the next round on this one so hurry hurry hope you read this! |
Nice love it. Gonna be. So me
|
I love surprises! If you're wondering about a backing fabric some sort of red with white or white with red print will be just fine.
We are under a winter storm warning again for tonight - this time the snow will be wet and heavy - GRRRRR bring back the colder temps any day over sloppy wet snow. |
but sloppy wet snow means its MELTING and melting is perfectly wonderful for me! I wonder if we have a lawn.. haven't seen it in weeks. maybe it is gone for good we won't ever find out if it doesn't melt! spring where are you???
|
ok answer I received on color catchers: the bleeder fabrics will probably continue to bleed and you will need to wash that quilt with color catchers each time you wash it they can bleed for years.. omg! so might go back and remove those squares and redo it.. sigh that is going to be work I can assure you. all day probably to get maybe 8 blocks that are 2.5 inchs out and redo it. SO WASH YOUR REDS OVER AND OVER if they bleed try to get as much of that die out or .. use a better fabric. I tossed the rest of that red don't want to accidentally use it.

Ugh Linda. So sorry to hear that.
|
OH NO!!! Linda, so sorry to hear that!!! Good luck! I understand ripping out. Sewed like a mad woman last night...finished pressing blocks. Stood back looking and 2 of the blocks were sewed backwards!!! UGH!!! Ripped them out, set them aside and will try again tonight!

She might not but the rest of would like a "strip teaser".
|
Did Rodney say "strip tease"?!?!?
|
Isn't that when you find out that the great price on that jelly roll is because there are only 10 pieces to it, or the strips are only 22" long instead of 44"?

Brat,
You do whatever is easiest for you based on the fabric and pattern you have. Do you prefer square or rectangle? |
TamMoo she will answer you in the next couple of days. Linda has had a problem with her dialysis port and is in the hospital right now. She had surgery yesterday that did not work and had surgery today again to change the location and has finally been able to have much needed dialysis today. Hopefully she will be able to come home sometime tomorrow. Prayers for recovery and a new kidney would be much appreciated.
|
Oh wow!!! Jaba thank you for the info. Please keep us updated and let her know we are thinking of her. I'm praying for her.
|
Yes, Jan, please tell her how much we love her and that a million prayers and hugs are flying through the computer to her. Linda is an incredibe woman, and her posts here reflect the spunk and positive attitude that totally hide the hurdles she goes through physically every day. I am so glad you are there for her, Jan. Thank you for keeping us posted and hug her for me.

Just got off the phone with her and she certainly sounds in better spirits. They are going to do dialysis again this morning and then she can come home. Will have to have surgery again in a couple of weeks to finish the port site for dialysis as this one is a temporary she said, but that shouldn't be too complicated. Whew! she didn't yell at me, even got a couple of giggles out of her.

She is home but very tired..she'll probably be on the net soon to see what's been going on while she was gone. Her daughter is here for a few days visiting but I'm sure she'll find the time.
|
Checking in!!! Hope everyone is doing good.
|
I'm good! How are you, Yosamitesa? Finally got to start working on my partner's quilt - just trying to learn how to tame wild geese! Since my partner wants to be surprised, can I email you a picture to see what you think? Really would like a second opinion. Should have both test blocks ready tomorrow.
|
Sure. Send away!!!

Mumukate - If you are struggling with flying geese, I HIGHLY recommend getting a Triangulations cd. I have version 3.0 and you can print out paper foundations for the FG - I am an enormous fan of any foundation method which guarantees perfect points. As an added bonus, they have both single FG and then chain FG (for when you make multiples which stack up).

Well, I got the border on my partners quilt last night, and it looks really cute. I am going to let it hang on my design wall for a few days and let inspiration come to me now. We still have plenty of time to finish, and I figure the more I practice my FMQ on the 5 other projects waiting to be quilted, the better I will be when I quilt KGoodhands! Just have to buckle down.....

Checking in Melinda, oops I see I haven't sent you pics of fabric or pattern yet. Where or where is my camera? I will get them out to you in the next couple of days. Sorry I took so long!!
|
I have the center done of my quilt and need a nice round to finish it up. I am very happy with it. more so I am happy to just be home. I lost a bit of ground but figure it will take time and I will be back in no time at all. I am truly happy to made it through the biggest part of the whole venture. Now to let the second port seed a bit then they can open it up and tada! done! this will be a marvelous thing.
