That is stunning!!! I adore it!!!

dabbler312 04-27-2014 08:33 AM

CarolynMT that is an awesome block - love the quilting you did on the block; someday I hope to just bite the bullet and do my own quilting. Can't wait to see the entire project when it's finished - SEW AND TELL on this thread is going to be spectacular!

Rodney 04-27-2014 11:46 AM

CarolynMT very nice! I've never thought about effects like the lace center panel.

Just about stepped down to get to work and the power went out :p sigh, whole city was out for like 2hrs. So I ended up folding all my tiny scraps that were long enough to ruler fold into 2.5 x 2.5 bundles (nice strips) and bagged up the others for cutting in to precut sizes.

I did get down into the long arm room today after my nap :p and I started on my partners quilt :) I will not show all the quilt, because it is a big secret, but since she just had surgery recently ;) I thought she might like a sneak peak. So here is one of the blocks quilted up, and I have to say, I am totally in love with it.....

wow!!!!! I love it!! I cant believe it is mine!!! Just beautiful thank you so much a great pick me up I needed. Surgery went well still cant use my hand, stiches come out on Thursday. We will see....

ArizonaKAT 05-01-2014 10:07 AM

OK, I've given up on the quilting machine . . . for now. The repairman wanted $120 just to show up. Living in the country does have some downfalls.

Anyway, back to finishing the bocks. MD Quilter, I'm sorry to say you may get your quilt quilted by a vintage singer 201. . . but at least I know how to run that one. :-)

Yosamitesa 05-01-2014 11:16 AM

Ok ladies and gent...we had 6 swappers not check in last month. It is a new month...need updates by the 15th. I also need confirmation for each swapper that your partner has been in contact with you. Have too many that are starting to go missing.

If your quilt is done, SIT on it until both partners are done and we schedule a ship date.

roseirish48 05-01-2014 05:56 PM

yeah--center is put together and starting on the corners. This mental image is slowly becoming a reality. Hoping to have on frame next week but havent a clue as to how i will quilt it. guess we shall have to wait and see.

I chose the Lucky Star pattern because I felt that it must be a lucky star that keeps pairing jaba and I up on swaps - I feel blessed with my on line quilty friends.

The first photo is the initial fabric selections.
The second photo shows the star pairings.
The third is a pile of 30 star blocks.
The fourth is a sample what they look like when they are nestled next to one another - only a teaser for I want the final quilt to be a surprise when she gets it.

Love your fabrics! It's going to be a great quilt!

CarolynMT 05-03-2014 12:46 PM

Ok, I was gonna post that I just took Queens Romance off my Long Arm today :p and noticed that I only put it on the frame last weekend! It stitched up rather fast considering it took 2-3hrs per row. Either it went faster than I clocked or I have no life :p Anyhow, need to trim it up, add binding and then it will be ready ;)

I really cant wait to show this off, it truly is a stunning quilt, i fell more in love with it every row! And am so happy that my partner is excited to get it :) Hope she feels like a queen when she snuggles in it!

roseirish48 05-03-2014 04:51 PM

working on HQ my partners quilt, slow and steady. I decided to use a Red thread to quilt it to bring it out some. As I go along I am stitching the middle of a block and low and behold one of the wheels in the pinwheel is turned the wrong way. I sat their in dismay trying to figure if I should try to undo the block or not. I didn't want to undo all my HQ remove it off it's frame and probably screw it up even more. So I compromised and said to myself. It'll just be unique. I went a little "out the box" with some of these blocks and I never thought I would get it done. Here's a pic of it, I know if you policed the block up close you would see it, but I think from far it'll just blend.

roseirish48 05-07-2014 06:25 AM

okay,so I didnt get it on the frame on Monday like I said. It is layered and pin basted and ready to put on frame but got sidetracked by request from another quilter on Monday and yesterday-----well, lets just say that the doctor better not want me to come back in another 6 months or I may tell him where to stick his scope!

Elisabrat 05-07-2014 06:55 AM

I washed my backing for my Christmas Quilt for Tam-Moo. It bled like crazy. used two color catchers pink. dried it two color catchers pink. Now what do I do? do I wash it one more time with more color catchers/ I hear I shouldn't have dried it. Thought perhaps it might set it in place. Now I hear nope. any advice would greatly be appreciated as I need things done rapidly here. argh!!! snowy day in Cody. Light snow so that is not bad but hope it stops immediately!! like in right now! unfortunately that should last til tomorrow. good day to finish up the house. moved last weekend. taking days to get settled. still a tiny bit more to do at other place but will finish that tomorrow. one thing at a time :)

Yosamitesa 05-07-2014 06:57 AM

Can you get your hands on some retain?

QuilterMomma 05-12-2014 10:53 AM

That is pretty Jaba. My hubby gave me a rose bush to plant and the kids gave me a plaque and a gift certificate to have a mani and pedi!

ArizonaKAT 05-12-2014 12:23 PM

Hope everyone had a happy Mother's Day. I got Yellow and Black blocks from my DD and GD to go with my Boom 12 blocks. The GD that's with me was suppose to make 2 also but I got a free lunch and she took care of the horses for me. That was a treat.

It was a good working weekend.

I got the quilt top done for the ARK tornado victims and it's on its way to gran of 6 for quilting.

I got my cousin's DD's quilt top almost finished. They travelled across country a couple of weeks ago on her way to Hawaii (Navy) and stopped for the night. Was hoping to have it done then but it all worked out. There was no room in the jeep to put it.

I only have 11 more tiny 7 inch blocks to finish for MDQuilter before I can start putting the quilt together.

AND, my quick trip to Walmart netted me 36 yards of fabric for $1.00 a yard! Going back there when I get paid Friday.

roseirish48 05-12-2014 06:52 PM

hoping everyone had a great Mother's Day. My kids took me out to dinner at Rhodesio which is a all-you-can -eat Brazilian steakhouse buffet. Troy (my middle boy) and his girlfriend also gave me a potted geranium.
Have the q4q on the frame and have quilted a couple of blocks. Just outline quiltingas i am thinking that it is all it needs. Will know for sure once I get that done. Have managed to get another project ready to quilt also.

jaba 05-12-2014 07:14 PM

Sounds like everyone had a very nice Mother's Day. I know I did some of the "stuff" wrong, but apparently did some right too. All of you must have also:) Perfect day for sure.

Yosamitesa 05-13-2014 06:46 AM

Need check-ins to come in. Some have started!!! Need updates by Thursday. On Friday, I will be messaging those I haven't heard from in 2 months...

Yosamitesa 05-14-2014 12:06 PM

Still need to hear from 12 swappers...

Rodney 05-15-2014 11:44 AM

Guilty! I'm one of the ones that haven't checked in yet. I'll shoot you a PM to make it formal.
Rodney

Yosamitesa 05-15-2014 11:59 AM

LOL!! Hey Rodney!!! How are you???

Rodney 05-15-2014 06:14 PM

Good. I got your PM sent. Things are moving along.
Rodney

Yosamitesa 05-16-2014 06:56 AM

Well...I've heard from most of you! I sent messages to the few I have not heard from. I really need to hear from those that haven't check in the last few months. REALLY need to know you are still with us!

Elisabrat 05-17-2014 02:35 PM

hiding but here :) just over done from moving and company. it was a long two weeks here .. overdid it and trying to get back in the groove. washed the fabric again no more bleeding :) so ready for quilting now to ask Jan if she wants me to stitch the backing together or give it to her and she can cut as she pleases. think its two yards across ok not really but should give lots of room for quilting and maybe just maybe some binding! yippee! then I will send it on so another month Tam Moo this move has really taken more out of me than I thought. upside its done :) still a couple no hurry pics to hang up and I am happy. Had someone come out and check out trimming the heaters today. the landlord said great he doesn't want to so all is happy here :) he also offered to pay for paint any color if I want which I do but oh lord that will be some work yet. maybe next month!

Finally got back to my machine after a busy time at work and the biannual guild show. I did too much. I need to remember this so next time I say no I stick with it and don't back down. The show was Friday and Saturday and I did get an assistant trained just in time at work. By Saturday afternoon, I knew I was in trouble and Monday I had to call my sister for help. I had round two of the flu! It was a doozy and the flu shot did not help this time. I plan to share pictures and the fact that I DID finish the raffle quilt and get the tickets printed but have to move slowly for the time.

roseirish48 05-19-2014 04:34 PM

2 blocks, 3 corners left to quilt and on to the binding. if the rain keeps up,i could be done be end of week

Annaquilts 05-21-2014 08:11 AM

Take it easy and take care of yourself first. It is fine with me if we run a little late as long as it is OK with the swap host. June is a super good month for me to do the quilting.

Elisabrat Moving is hard work, I hope you've been able to take a break and catch your breath and Applique I hope you're finally on the mend for real this time.
Good thing about it, cold and flu season is pretty much over with this year.

Dug out camo fabric, pattern from internet etc..He did show up and even though he didn't know how to sew, run a sewing machine or even iron, he did it! Went home with his card holder and a big smile! While he was working I got to play with pieces for a new quilt called chicken pox. The fish were so much fun I just had to try the chickens!

Hi everybody in this swap. I am not part of it this time but maybe in the future. As I was looking through all the great work happening here I saw the fish and recognized them, I think. Applique, did you show some of them off in Rhondas Wall Hanging Swap a while ago? What fun they were then and even more now. These fish really make me smile and then to see the Chicken Pox!:D WOW, how much fun a flock of these would be. Just wanted to let you know.
